PAINTERS IN MODERN TIMES – WHAT’S NEW

10th of June, 2009
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is your art practice going beyond the brush and canvas? Are you experimenting with different media? Does your work no longer fit the guidelines of PiMT
THEN Paintings Modern and Beyond – PiMT MAY BE FOR YOU
Marilyn, kafka and mxsara have just started a new group that we hope will be of interest to members of PiMT.
We have for some time recognised that the ‘painting only’ rule that applies to PiMT, while helping to keep PiMT a focused and successful group, has been a hindrance to those painters who are developing their painting into areas of new media.
The idea behind this group is to provide a second home for those members of PiMT whose work has developed from the painted surface into areas that challenge the accepted notion of ‘painting’ – the work should be fresh, experimental, challenging and original.
Multi/single media work that addresses conceptual relationships between ‘modern’ media – artwork that explores the boundaries of our modern multi-media world.
We are looking for artists who work in any combination of the following areas – if you are interested in joining this new group and you think your work is suitable, please contact one of the hosts for more information.
Painting
Digital painting
Sculpture
Performance
Installation
Poetry
Photography
Music
Membership is by invite only – this is not intended as a merit-based selection but simply to keep the group focused and to prevent its galleries being flooded by inappropriate images.
  • CURRENT EXHIBITIONS
COSMOPOLITAN, BAILEYS OR MIDORI?
25 May – 20 June 09
@ArtHouse Hotel 275 Pitt St Sydney
Are we on the brink of another great depression? If so how do we cope? We do what folks in the roaring 20’s did. We live in the moment. We celebrate life with our friends. We dance, we laugh, we have a cocktail and immerse ourselves in culture. There is a place we can enjoy all of these things. In the heart of the city three international artists mix a cocktail of sweet, spicy and musical treats with paintings looking at the lighter side of life.
Meet the artists on the opening night: Monday May 25th, 6:30 pm.
.................. *Want to life draw like Roz McQuillan?
For Melbourne artists in the southern areas, I run two untutored life classes in Brighton. We have one model, one pose for three weeks, so great for painting or extended drawings. It’s at Brighton Art Society, facilities are great, and so are the models. You need only bring your materials. Classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 – 7pm, and cost is $15, very reasonable. Anyone interested can contact Roz
Hi I am new to redbubble and all this on-line networking. I am trying to upload my 2 images – can’t see where to do it. I suppose this may not be the forum, but I can’t see anywhere else to communicate with you either. I have tried searching and the help section – no luck. Is there a site you can send me to that will give me the lowdown on these things? Thanks
Click on “My Bubble”, then click on “Art”. Click the “Edit” button for the image you want to add to a group. Scroll down to where it says “Add this work to your groups”, select the group(s) and save. Some groups accept your image right away & some groups have an approval process, but it doesn’t take very long.
