In The Artist’s Words

The paintings on this site show some of my work done since about 1990. The images follow a rough chronological order from then till now.
During this time I have slowly moved southwards down the east coast of Scotland like a shingle beach, starting in Aberdeen, moving on to Dundee and then Edinburgh.
I currently live in South Queensferry near Edinburgh with my wife and son.

In my Words

Stephen’s portfolio is distinctly unique. There is an almost a tribal element to his work and whilst you may see the influences of surrealism, cubism and ‘Leger like’ qualities, his work remains his own. Whether using a limited palette or encompassing a full range of hues Stephen’s work conveys a strong visual message. His Mixed Media assemblage african man epitomizes the genre of mixed media and it is fantastic that his work was voted most popular in the PiMT challenge Mixing Media
