Hi Marilyn

Thanks for the information. Indeed, PIMT is the mother and father of the traditional arts on Redbubble and for those of us who have gone out and created new groups, we always come back here for comfort!

Martin and I started the Realist Landscape Painting Group
and
Myself and Arie started the Wildlife and Pet Paintings Group

Marilyn,
Thanks enormously for including the RPG in your list. It’s a very kind, broad-minded, and (for me, anyhow) thought-provoking act.

Does Remodernist painting (a movement less than a dozen years old) really qualify as a “celebration of the traditional arts”?

I really don’t know, this is just a question.

For example, the term “Modern” architecture currently refers to structures that were designed about 50+ years ago, and the leading proponent of the ‘Spiritual’ dimension of painting (the central issue in the current Remodernist vs. Post-Modernist debate) was Kandinsky who lived from 1866 until 1944 and may have reached his peak around 1911.

Is what was referred to as “Abstract Art”, or “Modern Art” in the bloody, bloody 20th Century old enough to be considered “traditional” in 2008?

Again, I don’t mean to imply that I know the answer; I’m merely asking a question.

Well Carson is probably better posed as “does your group celebrate Traditional art and do you wish it to be included?”

My opinion? The RPG certainly does celebrate traditional art and I’m delighted that you chose to include us!

I only wondered what some of the other thoughtful members of PiMT might have to say about the subject.

I have difficulty with the word “traditional”. Lee, who hosts 1 on 1:The Fine Art of Portraiture group doesn’t like it either.

PiMT is about celebrating and promoting hand crafted works on redbubble. Even the term “hand crafted” can be misconstrued. “I hand crafted it with a mouse…”.

Our intention is to bring together the hugely outnumbered segment of the redbubble community and artists who have works that do REALLY exist as tangible objects created in a non-digital format.

If you spot any other new groups dedicated to non-digital works please let us know.

thank you for the great info on this group – I am not looking to be a label for my creative processess and would be happy in a group simply called paint:) or art:) – I dont see myself or endeavour to be a tradionalist in any creative shape – I am painting and I am expressing my self for others to share.

Cant box me in lovingkindness mikeyartscape :)
