Ever since joining this group I can’t stop seeing/looking for the number 23. This one looks like it just landed on the Moon! It would also make a very original birthday card for any of your soon to be 23 year old friends :-) Sony a350
I didn’t have to risk life and limb to take this shot of a Vietnam-era Huey. This UH1H chopper – known universally as the Huey – looks as though it was hovering above my head, but it’s actually a static display, held up by a metal framework that supports it high above the ground. Here in Australia, we have a veterans’ organisation called the Returned Services League, or RSL. The Huey is the centrepiece of a Vietnam memorial at the Dandenong branch of the RSL and it was unveiled on 30 April 2005, the anniversary of the fall of Saigon. Just for the record, this chopper was donated by the US Army. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F8, 1/350 sec, ISO 200, focal length 85mm. Featured in 60’s GLORY, October 2009. Featured in NUMBERS ONE TO A TRILLION, October 2009. 75-4117
taken in my yard…how exciting!
Taken at the end of a long day at the Comedy Festival on Cockatoo Island – still having fun at the end of the day!
I liked this, more graphic then photo, but that what photography is all about, different points of view. Photo taken in Fremantle. / Captured with Nikon D70, 18-200 Nikkor lens. Featured in LETTER BOXES group 25/12/2008 / Featured in Snail Mail group 01/03/2009 / Featured in Workshop Camera Club group 03/03/2009 / Featured in Out of the Blue group 08/04/2009 / Featured in Numbers One to a Trilion group 24/10/2009 !
Taken on Cockatoo Island, Sydney, in the tunnell that runs from one side of the island to the other. The background is all Sydney sandstone and so beautiful.
I found this old skeleton key while snooping around Hall Tower, in Mechanicsburg PA. It was a bit weathered, so I cleaned it up, and put a clear coat of paint on it. Now I have a sweet necklace. RAD! Eventually, I would like to pick up a good macro lens, but i’m having fun with my +10 filter. Canon EOS 450D / Shutter Speed – 1sec / Aperture – F/6.3 / Focal Length – 55mm w/+10 Macro Filter / Editing – Custom BW setting in Photoshop CS3 / Featured in the Canon DSLR group 10.28.08 / Featured in the Metallic Junction group 1.18.09 / Featured in the Numbers One to a Trillion group 1.20.09
Taken looking through a window at the Dunn County Fairgrounds, Menomonie, Wisconsin…..just caught my eye…
This US Hornet was sitting under portable floodlights on the apron of Avalon airport, Melbourne, during the 2009 Australian International Air Show. This angle caught my attention because the long, slender nose cone was partially in darkness and partially lit, while other surfaces were highlighted sharply against the inky-black night. The design of the engine intake, in particular, shows just how slender some of the leading surfaces are on this highly-regarded fighter jet. My challenge here was to achieve a strong composition and absolute clarity – without a tripod. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot without a tripod, using a Pentax K100D and a Sigma 70-300mm lens. F4.5, 1/15 sec, ISO 800, focal length 150mm. Avalon2009-5660

That ubiquitous number pops up yet again. / Deliberately blurred slightly in Photoshop.
