The “Lady of Mann” at the Prince’s Landing, Stage Liverpool.
Taken with a Canon 50D, Sigma 10-20 lens at 10mm, F11, shutter speed 1/6 second, ISO100, tweaked in Photoshop Over the weekend we visited the Roodlesworth wood for the gorgeous autumn colours, the woods are on the outskirts of Blackburn (Lancashire). The colours and smells of autumn were amazing to see. This is a shot of the reservoir near the woods, I had to get low down for the shot and nearly slipped into the water because of the moss on the reservoir banking! ...note to self I must get myself some new walking boots, the current ones are several years old and the grips on the soles are going!! I have a passion for decaying architecture. I love the aging process which creates a beauty all of its own. The paradox of a derelict cinema called the Futurist in the centre of a busy city where new buildings are springing up all around. Why do we let the most wonderful buildings fall into ruin whilst spending fortunes to build new structures? I hope you appreciate this. First published May 2008, Photography Monthly
Taken in Manchester with a Nikon D80 and a Sigma 10-20 lens. The reflection shows up well after a day of rain.
Taken with a Fisheye lens – Canon 15mm. Taken on the shore of Conniston Water, Cumbria UK Thanks for looking! This image was featured in Art North West Group
Haystacks and Fleetwith Pike reflected in a very still Buttermere in the English Lake District.
This is Llyn Ogwen in the beautiful Ogwen Valley, North Wales. This shot was taken half way up the back end of Yr Ole Wen. I thought the small stream gave this view a lovely lead in perspective. This is one shot converted to 3 tiffs then worked into HDR in Photomatix with a final bit of tweakin on Elements
Colloquially known, by Liverpudlians, as Paddy’s Wigwam, the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Liverpool is as entrancing inside as it is innovative outside. This was taken after the recent refurbishment and just a few weeks before the official reopening. This is my first attempt at stitching together three photos in a panorama using Photoshop Elements. I would have taken the shots slightly differently with this experience behind me, mainly to give a bit more height to the combined result, but given that these were essentially three individual shots I am reasonably happy with the result. Camera: Canon Powershot SX100 IS with 10X zoom lens, 6.0-60.mm, 1:2.8-4.3. Hand-held in natural light. Panorama created in Photoshop Elements 6 on an iMac.
Camera EOS 300D. F/20 . 1/100th sec. Focal Length: 28mm / Liked the reflections of Brocklebank. Funny to think how much development there has been since taking this photograph.

Obvious enjoyment of ice-cream on a hot day in Manchester, England. Simple pleasures. A link with their long-gone childhood? There’s a certain sadness here.

The aim of the group is to provide..
A SHOWCASE FOR THE BEST OF THE VISUAL ARTS IN “THE NORTH WEST” REGION.
This can include the best examples of all forms of visual art by artists working in the region. Artists submitting work from outside the region would need to demonstrate that the work has been inspired by the people, and/or culture and/or landscapes of the region.
The “North West” region is a little tricky to define but roughly corresponds to the Granada TV region and includes, the Lake District, Lancashire, Gtr. Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, the Isle of Man, parts of North Yorkshire and even North Wales. We all know we live in “the north west” even if we are not sure about its boundaries !
“The north west” is a culturally diverse region that has welcomed outsiders since before the Romans. Many migrants left Europe from our major port Liverpool.. don’t know where they ended up though. We have varied weather.. some of the finest architecture, and landscapes you will find anywhere.. we were the first to realise the potential of the industrial revolution.. we have the best sports teams anywhere and our bands started the “pop” era.. we have two of the worlds greatest cities in Manchester and Liverpool.. but I could be a little biased.
Although our region is quite small (not much more than 100 miles north to south) it has some truly varied landscapes. Rugged mountains to the north, vast open moorlands to the east, a long coastline to the west and huge almost unbroken conurbations in the south. We want the group to reflect all that is interesting, varied exciting and unique about our vibrant region “The North West”
Each artist is limited to ten works so please submit the best examples of your work.
Why are we limiting the number of works per artist ?
We hope this will mean that artists submit the very best examples of their work, thereby making the group of real interest to the viewer… and hopefully encouraging sales of these works !
We feel that by limiting each contributor to ten works we will actually make it more likely that your works will be found by visitors… because the group could become very large otherwise.
All images submitted will be moderated by the Hosts. We will decide which works to accept based on the above criteria and in our opinion select those works we consider to be the best examples. Please don’t be offended if a work is not accepted it is only our opinion, please keep trying !
Lets make this a proper gradely group.. tha no’s !
