Ward Beach, Marlborough, South Island New Zealand at sunrise Nikon D200 with 17-55mm f2.8 nikon lens with tripod standing on the limestone rock formations, waited for about half an hour for the right wave to create the pattern without crashing over the rocks and disturbing the tripod, I got very wet trying to get this photo (not that that is unusual, I always seem to end up getting wet in my pursuit of interesting images) I hope you like the photo. About The Giclee Prints About This Painting / Mount Ngauruhoe is one of three currently active volcanoes in New Zealand. Located on the Central North Island Plateau close to Mount Ruapehu, which had been the more active of the two over recent years, it frequently has steam issuing from its vent. This painting was mostly done in situ from the slopes of Mount Ruapehu on a battered piece of hardboard salvaged from under a Ski Club hut, where we spent a long weekend. The volcanic ash and overlying patches of golden tussock grass give an other-worldly feel to a landscape dominated by the two active volcanoes and the blown-out remnants of a third (Mount Tongariro) lying close by in the background of this painting. Acrylic on board.
About The Giclee Prints About The Framed and Matted Prints About This Painting / Here is a typical hot summer’s day near one of our beautiful Far North beaches at Marble Bay. For most people in New Zealand the beach is a great place to be on Christmas Day. This image is a glimpse of the ideal – some years lately the hard facts have been rain up here over Christmas. Last year the weather was brilliant, though, and we hope this year follows suit! This piece exists only in the computer – I have combined pieces of two or three of my other works in Acrylic to create it.
I have reworked this image after doing a bit more reading on HDR – I think one brings out the clouds more in white. / Three images from +0.33 to -1 stop tone mapped in Photomatix

About The Giclee Prints About The Framed and Matted Prints About This Painting / Patterns of the plough on a bare Waikato hillside. Acrylic on canvas board. Exhibited at Mac21 International Contemporary Art Fair, Marbella, Malaga, Spain in 1999.
About The Giclee Prints About The Framed and Matted Prints About This Painting / I live underneath this rock – or more accurately, nearly underneath it. There is a small gut between my place and the rock, so if it ever decided to fall down, I am not in the immediate line of fire. I wouldn’t like my chances if it ever decided to erupt again, though. The rock is called Orotere which means Flying Pigeon. There’s one in the painting – the Kereru or native pigeon of New Zealand. Acrylic on canvas board.

Lupin on the shores of Lake Pukaki, Mt Cook, South Island,New Zealand.
Tui are busy feeding from the flowering flax bushes that line the Terrace Tunnel exit from Wellington’s urban motorway. Since the establishment of the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary, native birds such as tui are a lot more common in the city. Amazingly they don’t seem to mind the traffic, but some of them are a little camera shy. I managed to get this one though.
This is for all proud New Zealanders out there, either home or abroad, and visitors to our country (great travel choice) who would like to share our vistas, our people and all things ‘kiwi’. And we would like to see what kind of work/art you do. It doesn’t have to have anything remotely like a kiwi in it :) Any genre, as long as it is made while living in New Zealand.
There is now a limit of 2 uploads per day. Any more than that will be deleted and can be added in the future. Bear in mind, spending time having to delete over-eager uploaders images is a waste of my time; I should be out there doing kiwi stuff so please respect this limit :)
I will change the Featured images on the front page regularly so keep an eye out for yours :)
Ka pai.
