Win the opportunity to hang your work in a real life gallery with real life customers with real actual money!

Brunswick Street Gallery is generously partnering with the Melbourne Group to bring you ongoing opportunities to sell your work in gallery and hotel environments.

What does that actually mean?

BSG have very kindly donated their entire ground floor to the RedBubble Melbourne Group.

From time to time (depending on the needs of the venue) an appointed curator will browse through the Melbourne Group Gallery and invite artists to exhibit their works for 2 or more weeks.

How Do I Enter?

All works available as a matted print and uploaded to the Melbourne Group are automatically eligible for these exhibitions however there is no pressure to participate if invited.

If you are invited and choose to participate, you will need to provide a copy of your work as a redbubble matted print and in a re-usable redbubble frame. You will most likely need to deliver and help hang your work on opening night and collect any unsold works after the exhibition, just like in the real world :)

Judging

For now, judging will be done by your humble hosts and exhibition curators as appointed by the venues.

Jo O’Brien – gallery sales and artist representation experience
Michael Alesich – graphic designer and artist
Melinda Kerr – PR and marketing guru
John Robb – technical photography judge
Bellmusker – writer, looking for wow factor without technical considerations

There will be 10 works chosen at the discretion of the judges
All judging decisions are final and correspondence will not be entered into
We reserve the right to invite additional participants at any time to fill a space

The following criteria will be used by the judges:
- The needs of the venue
- Originality of concept or technique, and ‘wow’ factor
- Level of technical skill
- Perceived likeliness of selling in a gallery and/or commercial environment
- Cohesiveness of theme may apply to some exhibits (to be advised)

What Do I Win?

Your work wins a place in an exhibition at the inviting venue.

You will be able to sell your work at any price you determine while being exhibited. Brunswick Street Gallery will take a commission of just 30% should your work sell and will facilitate all sales. Other venues may take different commissions- to be advised.

Considering the submission time (12pm to 10pm, 7 April), does that mean we definitely can’t “resubmit” or submit work that’s been previously uploaded? I’d like to enter this, but not with something I have to create on the spot…

Did I misunderstand something?

Any works in the group wall art gallery between those times will be judged, but even if invited, participating is voluntary.

We don’t want this project to interfere with what people want to upload and when. So even if you have the same 5 works in the gallery all the time, that’s fine. And yes, I’m foreseeing more of these in the near future so don’t kill yourself to make this round’s timeline :)
