Congrats dear! Our interview..

What inspired this shot?
I find bubbles are fascinating to shoot. Usually I would only find bubbles sticking to a surface or quickly rising to the top of the liquid surface, but in this case the bubbles were within the centre of the gel as well; they were all over the place; it was much more interesting to shoot.

Was there any other shots taken before this one?
When I started taking some shots, I still had the hair gel label on the tube, and was trying to shoot the bubbles without all the words on the label. But it wasn’t easy for the camera to get the bubbles alone, and required lots of cropping after, hence a very small photo in the end. So I finally decided to peel away the label and wash the tube until the surface was clear, and I was able to capture more bubbles. I shot at different areas at different angles, and chose which one I liked best.

What camera do you us for your macros?
Olympus FE-220 on macro setting

What do you enjoy most about our group?
Capturing beauty in the smallest things that are often overlooked.

What theme will you choose for next months challenge?
Patterns (e.g. the knitted threads in a cloth)

What do you like about this theme?
Often a pattern in a surface can be overlooked because from afar our minds blend them to look like one flat surface. It is always interesting to take a closer look at what an object is composed of.

Thank you, it was a pleasure to participate in this challenge and I look forward to seeing the next challenge entries!

Many thanks to each one of you! I must admit, it is funny that of all challenges I ended up winning this one. When the new theme “cosmetics” was announced, I was thinking “Forget it, I don’t use make-up”. But it just happened that I was playing with that bottle of gel and noticed the bubbles, then remembered about this macro challenge. I only used that gel once for one occasion while my hair was short and troublesome, and it was a good thing I kept it…
