really good composition. well controlled direct sun exposure. nice natural color. image seems to be just a tad soft. just a hair off from being razor sharp. while its difficult to control background, i feel as though the beige middle BG between the green is a distraction.

Agreed about the beige background and softness. I’d also be tempted to rotate the image 90 degrees clockwise, although the flower would look odd then I guess. Nice looking Skipper. White patch is blown, but given the contrast differences, you’d have had a very hard time getting it all perfectly exposed – you did what I usually do, expose for the majority of the insect (the browns in this instance).

Good job.

I love the skipper, but this photo was just not quite up to par. Position and the blowout from the early morning sun isn’t something that is easily corrected.

The composition is beautiful Lexsis! Stinking sun though! A different time of day may have made all the difference… but its still a nice looking photo! I have yet to even find a butterfly, moth or anything… Im beginning to think the mosquitos drove them off.

The moth itself looks great, as does the flower it’s on. I agree though that the background is detracting a bit, maybe you should process this one twice, once for the flower and moth and the other for the background.

This is one that I tossed in the No folder but keep going back to it. I really like the little guy.

this is perfect positioning/framing imho – maybe bring out the colours a tad – ace capture
