perfect framing and composition. beautiful luminous color. my problem is that the subject is soft. i prefer razor sharp detail in the wings and especially the head. it doesn’t look out of focus, but more like a gaussian blur. |

I believe its too saturafed. I played with it a little in PS. You can see it here – |

I have to say he is a beauty. I love Butterflies. The mottled background is such a great shade of green which really sets him off. Its so easy, when shooting in bright daylight to end up with an insect that glows. I have also noticed that markings on Betterflies aren’t really that clear cut. So they tend to look softer. |

I suspect a gaussian blur was added to this – look at the leaf it’s perched on – it’s pretty sharp and in the same focal plane as the Butterfly’s wings. Remove the gaussian blur, the image doesn’t need any romanticism. Dave |

I think the composition is superb but for me I prefer the butterfly to be in focus and sharp – the background is stunning and so is the stance but for me detail of the insect is key imho |

This is a very beautiful capture, with lovely colors; the only thing I find wrong is it is a little out of focus on my end. Try sharpening it a little and see what happens, if the bg get too noisy when sharpening do a glassiur blur only on the bg not the subject… This is solely JMHO |

Nice capture!! The only problem with shooting mother nature is she doesn’t always like to sit still!! It’s a little out of focus, but it’s still a lovely photo! |
