I like it – nice curves, good colours, nothing wrong with teh composition, my only suggestion is that the lighting seemed a bit harsh when this was taken, perhaps try takign the same flower at different times of the day to see the effects of the lighting? Dave |

i agree with Dave, everything clicks here but the blown highlights. very nice balance of forms. superb delicate color balance. diffuse some of that direct sun and its a beauty. |

This is really nice. I think the only problem is the burnt out highlights that have been mentioned before. Other than that, good colours, focus and composition – I like it. |

echo, echo, echo… i can add on to whts been said so i will just state the obvious. tremendous shot, shame about the blown areas. :) good stuff! |

It could be repaired using the cloning tool in Photoshop – maybe. I’m going to play with it and see what I can do. Its a great photo and worth the effort. |

I like the color and composition- problem highlights |

Wow! Thanks so much everyone for the great input. I really appreciate it! I see what you all mean by the blown highlights. This would be so much better if I can fix that. I would love to see what you can do with it lexis! I will try too and see what I come up with. Thanks again for all the feedback everyone! |

I’m not sure how to add a link in this forum. http://www.redbubble.com/mybubble/art/994646-1-touchup/edit |

I think this is a great image, the only thing is the white blown out spot to the left side is distracting to the eye, making this the attention grabber instead of this beautiful flower… remember this is soley JMHO |

Thanks so much lexis…..I tried to copy/paste with the link you provided and I got |

to post an image in a comment use exclamation points at either end of the image address. to hotlink an address put quotes around the name and a colon then the address. hotlink example “hotlink”(colon here)http://etc |

Everyone has said everthing about this image. I find the image really striking. I love the lines and curves, and the two tones pink and white. The blown bits are really what lets this image down. if you use photoshop, there is a little trick that can help blown bits, if you cant get back to taking the image again. Select the white part using the magic wand. Now using your paint can, select a colour fairly near the the blown about bit. Set the opacity somewhere between 17 and 23%, then fill. If the blown out bit is too large, this might not work, but sometimes it will work really well. If it doens’t work – you can try the clone tool but it’s hard to get it really perfect and real looking also. |

I need to learn the ways and means of doing things here. I had the photo set as private, that may be why you couldn’t view it. |

Tell you what, since I made the image available to the public, click on my image and you will find “touchup” on page 2. In the mean time I will sort out how to post here in forums. |

I really like this, it’s a beautiful macro and it seems like a great flower to photograph!! |

Thanks again everyone for your great tips and suggestions. I really appreciate the critique. Wow Lexsis! You did a fabulous job! It looks great! Thanks so much for that. I had a stab at it myself but did not have time to spend on it. I will have another go now! You have inspired me! Thanks so much. Thanks also to Robyn. I will also try your suggestion. I am just learning photoshop, so this is a great project to get my trying different things. |

I really like the composition and the clarity, like others have said it’s a little blown out in parts but that’s easily fixed. |

I used the clone tool at 15%. Its a great tool for something like this. |
