a robber fly sucking out a little moth it caught. An amazing predator to watch in action, the robber fly catches other insects in flight (with a whole bunch of them flying around it’s stunning to watch that air show I can tell you !). They are pretty big, but won’t harm anyone, except if you’re an insect ;) / (found this one in Netherlands)
My initials on the light up keyboard
A Macro shot of water droplets hitting the surface… Shot with a blue filter on manual.. I have focused on the water crater instead of the droplets this time The only editing was that of a little cropping…. Details of how i do this can be found in my journal.. TIP
For some reason it looks like this dragonfly is smiling. Taken at MUN Botanical Gardens, Newfoundland, Canada

They seem pretty common, but I haven’t been able to figure it out. Tiny beetles about 1cm long, anyone know what they might be? Taken while walking around the Sydney Botannic Gardens at lunch time. Voltaire Carlos (check out his gallery on RedBubble) and I went for a “bug crawl” but it was so hot I think most were hiding. Any we saw were so skittish and active it was hard getting anything decent. Details: Canon 450D and 100mm macro with MR-14EX ring flash (F/18,1/200sec and ISO100).

Spotted this little guy on these wonderful flowers in Woodstock, New York. He wasn’t the least bit concerned when I got right down next to him. Canon Rebel XTi / FEATURED:EXTREME CLOSE-UPS 10-31-09 / / /
The time after mom left was hard, but dad always found a way to show us a good time. In the spring, he would take Jess, Nix, Potter (my sister, cat, and terrier) and I out to the open space and we would fly kites. Is that a UFO? Actually a parking lot post behind the Iris/30th shopping complex in Boulder, CO
Macro of a pine cone sitting on a shrub. It struck me as sort of poetic. Taken with kodak easyshare v1003 in macro, no viewfinder.
I was taking pictures earlier on these flowers and decided to go back out. It was dusk and my wife had to hold a flashlight so that I could see to focus. It’s getting colder so our flying friends just don’t move around. He just sat there the whole time and didn’t move. Eastlake, Ohio, USA
I got him! I chased this guy around and then would stand still and wait! Close as I could get until I can afford my dream lens! Used a Nikon D90 DSLR and a Nikkor 70-210 mm zoom, apparently capturing them is an adventure since this is number 2! The photo was taken at Boca Grande State Park, Florida, USA.
