The World In his Arms is the 14th Painting of our Tribute to Womanhood Series of 40 paintings/drawings/poem collaboration, and the fourth in our mini series Woman in Relation to Man. For the next six uploads we will be looking at women in relation to their men from many different perspectives. Even if a man is not present in the painting we will depict the woman’s feelings for and towards her man. It is such a great honour and pleasure to work with Anthea on this Collaboration, / as She is a brilliant and highly gifted / artist, poet, writer Australian Beauty. Paintings: Reynaldo / Painting and Poem: Anthea The World in his Arms She is to him the most precious gift / She is the beat of his heart, / the beam of his moon, / the shine of his stars / and the ignite of his passion. He shows her that she / is the ocean to him by / the way he tenderly strokes her neck, / runs fingers through her hair / By the way his eyes look / beyond her eyes and his / ears listen to her words, / his mouth asks her questions / longing to know her heart. He demonstrates his passion for her / by the way he admires her intelligence, / holds up her ideas and never / undermines her sensitive heart / He whispers softly in her ears / urging her to blossom and not / be afraid to dance in the daylight. And she knows that he honours her / by the respect he shows by hearing her heart / And she feels his attention / by the way he notices the emotion in her face / She understands he loves her / by the way he holds her when she cries. He holds her in his arms / and she feels contained and intensely calm / She holds him to her breast / and he feels her nurture and respect / He lifts her up to the heavens / and makes her feel like a real goddess. And he knows the universe smiled on him / because not only does he have the stars / he holds the world in his arms and speaks / out loud – This is my woman! By Anthea Slade

Not sure why I used the Japanese word for Love as the title, something about this image reminded me of Japan… Hmmm, who knows how the brain works hey :) Kite Festival, October 3, 2009, Coolum Beach, Queensland, Australia. Canon 5D Mk II, 50mm. Available large, and best viewed large!
Watercolour/Pen/Pencil 210×290 The goddess Venus was jealous of the beauty a mere mortal, Psyche. Venus formed a plan to have her son Cupid strike Psyche with an arrow, so that she would fall in love with the most horrendous man on earth. Cupid fell for this mere mortal Psyche. She was so beautiful that no mortal would marry her. Her parents consulted an Oracle, who told them to leave her on the nearest mountain, since she was not meant for mortals. Cupid became her “husband” by night alone, if you know what I mean. She was never allowed to see his face. Long story short, her sisters were jealous, they set her up, she pricked herself with Cupid’s arrow, and fell in love with him without seeing his face … and awakened him just as she was about to get a quick peak. Psyche tricked her sisters and basically killed them, the she was tricked herself by Venus to go to the underworld to perform incredible tasks and fell into a deep sleep. Cupid kisses her awake, marries her and Psyche gives birth to his daughter Voluptas whose name translates as Bliss or Pleasure.

My grandparents on their wedding day, all outfits handmade as back then they didn’t have a lot to spend so it was make your own or go without, my goodness how beautiful the dresses are and the suit is still hanging in the wardrobe after all these years. Featured: /
The weather here is very autumnal at the moment. That combined with the release of a new outfit for Michael is what ‘brought on’ this particular one. It is always a challenge creating two figures together – but here it is!
Wandering through Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India, we came across a film crew setting up for a musical scene. They allowed us to sit & watch them in action & take as many photos as we wanted. The Director was pretty cool, dressed in a fluorescent-green shirt with heavy make-up on his face, lips glossy…very Bollywood & very cool !!
