Glenmore Reservoir, Calgary, Alberta, Canada This was one my very first photo’s I took. There were many things I had not yet picked up. I had the iso on auto, which I think for this photo was about 400 – 800. This led to much of the noise in the sky. I had the aperture set at f22, which at the time I thought was best to bring more of the photo in focus but I later found it can soften the overall image. I also did not own a tripod so I had to balance the camera on some rocks which made composing the scene much harder then normal and led to a small amount of camera shake. In the end though this became the first photo I had taken that I was truly proud of and solidified my passion for photography.
Featured in “Landscape Photography” Moraine Lake, Alberta, Canada I knew going that I wanted a shot dramatically different then the standard “Moraine Lake” photo that everyone has. I took this photo in the early spring of this year, before the lake had reached it’s normal levels. Didn’t realize it at the time but I was very lucky to have gotten this shot as I came back 3 days later and the rock had already been completely submerged. Woke up at 2am and drove 2 and half hours in the dark and then slept at the lake for about 30 mins before going out to take pictures. Spent almost 4 hours walking the shores trying different shots. I was about to go home when i spotted this rock, I knew I had finally found the shot I wanted. Cheers

This was about 4pm on the 20th November 2009. One of the most electrical active storms I have seen came slowwwly across Umina beach and I was able to catch about 30 daylight lightning strikes. This is one of the better ones as it has not just the lightning but a typical beach feel. Just b4 this image was taken the lifeguards came down and closed the beach. This image taken with a Nikon D300 and the 18-70mm lens. Set at f18 and at .5 second exposure time.

The coast of Dunbar on my very first trip to the East Coast for photography. I parked in a normal street (of nice, fairly old houses), walked down some stairs and found this awesome bit of coastline. There was a lot of ice, and it was freezing cold but it was definitely worth it. Canon Eos 5D, 17-40L at 17mm, f22. ISO 100 for 30 seconds. I’d imagine I had a 1.2 ND filter, and a grad of some sort.

I stayed the night at a hotel at the feet of these monoliths. I woke up early and the temperature down there was 12 degrees c / I jump in the car and drove up to take some morning shots and it was 6 degrees warmer on the top. / All of a sudden this mist just rolled in and swept through the valley between the monoliths. It lasted about 5 minutes it just came and went but it felt really mystical and weird. This is a hand held HDR / Canon 50D

Landscape Group Guidelines
What is a landscape for me its an image that defines a feeling of a place, the dictionary says natural scenery as seen in a broad view I think for this group it must be quite general but also has to be relevant to the group. I hope it will be place were we can showcase our best work and improve our photographic skills .
Firstly I would encourage all participants to place as much information about equipment, settings and post processing as possible in there description.
Secondly don’t swamp the group a couple of images a day max.
Rich.
