For the longest time I dreamed of a wild adventure in Italy. In April 2008 that dream became an comical reality when I accidentally fell into the Grand Canal in Venice! Yes .. I slipped and fell into the Grand Canal wearing my best woolen coat, David Jones skirt and new boots. (See journal entry) So here is the photo taken a few moments before I fell. Next time I think I will just buy a postcard lol ! Venice is the city of love and even in the rain, this silent trio look oh so romantic. (c)sooz2008 (c) sooz2008
Morning mist over Canal Grande, Venice, Italy. Photo taken from the vaporetto. Arriving in Venice in the early morning in Autumn gives the advantage of seing the town rise from the mist, as a mirage come true
In an instant, all the colors of Venice changed… This photo was featured in Nov 2009 in the group “Italy and all things Italian”.

These gondolas were bobbing away in the early morning. Although it was incredibly expensive, and the ride was very short, it was definitely a must for Venice.
Looking down the Grand Canal from the top of the Rialto Bridge in Venice, Italy. Water traffic is chaotic here with Gondolas, Water Taxis, Vaporettos, Ferries, Speedboats and even Rowboats trying to make headway in the crowded canal. Moored watercraft line the banks. The buildings lining the canal are a fascinating mix of styles. Single RAW image Tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 3.2. Saturday’s “blessing of the fish” festivities include bonfires and a spectacular display of fireworks. On Sunday the town pulls out what is said to be the largest skillet in the world (about four meters - more than 12 feet - in diameter) and fries up a huge helping of fish donated by the local fish cooperative. If you’re planning a trip to Camogli, the best way to get there is by train. From Genoa, it’s just a 20-minute ride. Driving is not recommended since parking is scarce, especially during the crowded summer months. Once you arrive, you can get just about everywhere by foot. Just be sure to put on your walking shoes and be prepared to hike a lot of stairs.

Oltre Lerici, dopo le fantastiche calette, si scorgono Fiascherino e Tellaro FOR THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION SEE THIS LINK / http://www.redbubble.com/mybubble/art/2895734-2-lerici-the-castle-italy
