Whitby Abbey taken at 4:30 am (yawn). The first light of the day from the rising sun gave this amazing glow to the stones of this ancient building bringing it to life. Whitby is a wonderful seaside town along the North Yorkshire coast of England. This is a fascinating place to visit. FEATURED NOV 2009 INSPIRED ART / FEATURED NOV 2009 AROUND THE WORLD I wholeheartedly dedicate this video to Lianne today, as a Thanksgiving token of friendship. Welcome to my Room. This is my first video clip, and I do hope you cast a blindeye to its failings, and enjoy the lovely vocals and mood set by Marilyn Scott. All the photos are my own, taken here along our wonderful Hobsons Bay foreshore, just outside our front door, most of them last night. I consider this my room, not with as sense of ownership, as much as blessing. Nikon D70s; f/6.3; 1/400sec; 500mm focal length

! Three passions have governed my life: / The longings for love, the search for knowledge, / And unbearable pity for the suffering of humankind. Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness. / In the union of love I have seen / In a mystic miniature the prefiguring vision / Of the heavens that saints and poets have imagined. With equal passion I have sought knowledge. / I have wished to understand the hearts of people. / I have wished to know why the stars shine. Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens, / But always pity brought me back to earth; / Cries of pain reverberated in my heart / Of children in famine, of victims tortured / And of old people left helpless. / / I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot, / And I too suffer. This has been my life; I found it worth living. By Bertrand Russell..an English philosopher.. “The artist is the confidant of nature, flowers carry on dialogues with him through the graceful bending of their stems and the harmoniously tinted nuances of their blossoms. Every flower has a cordial word which nature directs towards him.” / Auguste Rodin
Artwork Worktime: 10 hours Listen to: GRAVE DIGGER – Rheingold Dedicated to my father (1930- 2000)
The original artwork is done in acrylic on stretched canvas. This was painted on a cold windy winter night a few years ago, and I wanted to paint something that will warm me up. What better way than a nice cosy blanket with swirls and colours! Enjoy!

The Famous Five go to stay at the large old house, and discover lots of brilliant hiding places, even underground tunnels! Then they catch people signalling out to sea—who are they?....a first experimental story painting on my digital tablet(Aiptek).....Smugglers song featured in ‘LMAO’ ....
“He was free to dance alone where the spirits run / His almond eyes would twinkle on a hundred sons / His champagne toast and white meat on a spit / Papa Legba’s drunken with a smile upon his lips” ~ verse from the song Hey Papa Legba by Elton John (1982) Papa Legba is the master linguist, the trickster, warrior, and the personal messenger of destiny. In Haitian Vodou, Papa Legba is the intermediary between the loa (the spirits of the Voodoo religion practiced in Haiti, and other parts of the world) and humanity. Papa Legba stands at a spiritual crossroads and gives (or denies) permission to speak with the spirits of Guinee (spirit world), and is believed to speak all human languages. Papa Legba is always the first and last spirit invoked in any ceremony, because his permission is needed for any communication between mortals and the loa—he opens and closes the doorway. ... in Benin and Nigeria, Papa Legba is viewed as young and virile, is often horned and phallic, and his shrine is usually located at the gate of the village in the countryside. ...” ~ This piece includes 3 photographs, the model (3d) and brushes, filters, and extensive processing in Photoshop. As with most of my work, the detail and overall result can only be appreciated in a much larger size than that available here on RB.

Early May 2009, the shrubs and flowers were starting to bloom and the sun is high in the sky. This is the back door to Long Hill Estates with a broom by the door. Couldn’t resist capturing this moment that was all set up for me! :) (Spring cleaning) Nikon D200 PSE7 / /
Acrylic painting on canvas board panel. Growing up in the country life in Texas inspired many of my horse artworks. My family owned many animals, including ponies and horses that we rode daily. Even though I don’t own horses in my adult life, the memories linger and inspire me with warmth and joy. This painting has been FEATURED in the “Simply Horses” group. :)
