canon eos 20d 24-105 / As some of you know I have been working on a series called “Denver as Gotham”. This building in the foreground is properly named the “Brown Palace Hotel”. This where all the IMPORTANT people stay when visiting our city. It was modeled after the Flatiron building in New York. I have changed the name of course as well as the bank building to the left. Now called Gotham National Bank, of course! / This started out as a 3 shot bracketed exposer processed in photomatix then added other layers to come out with this effect.
Curtiss P-40 Kittyhawk on display with a smile after a day of aerobatics at Temora Aviation Museum. P-40 is all-metal fighter and ground attack aircraft designed in US and used in 28 nations during the World War II. It was the main fighter aircraft used by the Royal Australian and New Zealand Air Forces. This particular one was assembled in 1st Aircraft Depot at Hobsonville, New Zealand in June 1943 and assigned to 2nd Operational Training Unit. After the war it did escape the fate of being scrapped and was eventually bought by Allan Arthur. It took 8 years to fully restore the aircraft and I was lucky enough to see its amazing display that day at Temora. Only 18 of them remain airworthy out of 13,738 built. Tone-mapped HDR from 3 NEF (RAW) files shot handheld with my Nikon D90. Location: Temora Aviation Museum, Temora, New South Wales, Australia From my photoblog at http://www.bouncedphoton.com This print is available with 0% markup. In the Old City of Jerusalem, in the Arab Quarter (away from the touristy areas), I saw this wonderful piece of art. I asked the merchant if I could photograph his shop. He agreed, but was not particularly happy about it, as you may be able to tell from his expression! / There is a dazzling array of spices available here.Note the model of the Temple of the Mount on top. / Processed from a single RAW file by extracting multiple exposures and pushing it through Photomatix. Then cleaned up in PS. /

Here is the poor mans SINGLE SHOT (HDR-SS) formula …. using only the settings available on the Adjustment Brush in LightRoom. 1 shot – Tripod with remote shutter using a Canon 30D (the old days) 1/500th at f/7.1 with 400MM at ISO 100. Lens – EF70-200mm f2.8L IS with a doubler “HDR” Treatment was applied using only the Adjustment Brush in LightRoom. For instance the wave was treated using -23 Saturation and 100 Clarity. The -23 got rid of some brownish tint and the 100 pressed the clarity to HDR levels …. using only the settings available on the Adjustment Brush in LightRoom to paint the wave. Other treatment included the beacon light using a +5 on both Contrast and Saturation to give it a “glow” and +1.38 Exposure to give it some illumination. . . . . .... using only the settings available on the Adjustment Brush in LightRoom to paint the little beacon. The sky was treated with +80 Contrast and +70 Clarity with +35 Saturation for the “HRD” . . . ..... using only the settings available on the Adjustment Brush in LightRoom to brush over the sky liberally. Nice little experment for a single shot HDR . . .
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is only one of a number of Romanesque Middle Ages buildings in the Piazza. The Baptistry is the Round building & the Cathedral (Duomo) is the other building on the right. The famous Leaning Tower is only the Bell tower for the Cathedral / (If you look carefully at the people ( and the ghosts of people) you will see some “Pisa Tai Chi” – Where people are pretending to hold up the Tower) / 3exp HDR – for once with a Tripod! /

I left Blackpool on a windy but sunny morning. By the time I got to the M6 it was throwing it down. Unpreturbed by the mist and rain I kept going into the Lake District. This was one of the first pictures I took of Blea Tarn that day, before my camera got soaked and I retreated back to the car. Sony Alpha 700 + Sigma 10-20mm lens. Single RAW shot processed three times and hdr’d using Photomatix Pro 3.

Ephesus (Ancient Greek Ἔφεσος, Turkish Efes) was an ancient Greek city on the west coast of Anatolia, near present-day Selçuk, Izmir Province, Turkey. It was one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League during the Classical Greek era. In the Roman period, it was for many years the second largest city of the Roman Empire; ranking behind Rome, the empire’s capital. Ephesus had a population of more than 250,000 in the 1st century BC, which also made it the second largest city in the world. In the centre of the ruined city, to the right of the Celsus Library, is the Gate of Augustus, also called the Gate of Mazaeus and Mithridates. Built in 40 A.D by the slaves Mazeus and Mythridates for their emperor, Augustus, who gave them their freedom. The gate with three vaulted passage ways leads into the 110-metre square commercial agora where food and craftwork items were sold. The monumental gate, dedicated to the honor of the Emperor Augustus, his wife and son-in-law, was apparently a favorite place for Roman ne’erdo-wells to relieve themselves, as an informal inscription curses `those who piss here’. The front side of the vault facing the Celsus Library is made of black marble, while the other side is white. A Latin inscription with inlaid letters made of bronze is still visible on one side of the structure. Part of the inscription states: “From the Emperor Caesar Augustus, the son of the god, the greatest of the priests, who was consul twelve and tribune twenty times; and the wife of August Livia; the son of Lucus, Marc Agrippa who was consul three times, Emperor, and tribune six times; and the daughter of Julio Caesar Augustus, Mazeus and Mythridates to their master and the people.” The small area in front of the gate was used as an auditorium. The steps around the gate, in front of the library and the round pedestal were used as seats. In Byzantine Period, the walls in the small area were built when the city walls were reduced in length. Another attempt at something a little bit different for me. I generally stick to colour, but I thought I would try converting a few of my images into mono. The original colour version is below (click on the colour image to view it properly). Colourful Gondolas full of tourists, Vaporettos full of commuters, cruise ships and pleasure boats of all kinds can be seen navigating the wide Giudecca Canal in Venice, Italy. In the background is the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, designed by Andrea Palladio and located on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Facing the Bacino di San Marco, the church plays a central role in the panorama from the Piazzetta. (Information supplied by Wikipedia). Single RAW image Tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 3.2. Definition of a HDR Image:
By HDR we understand the image to be of greater dynamic range of luminances between light and dark areas of a scene than normal digital imaging techniques.
It is a post-processing of taking either one image or a series of images, combining them, and adjusting the contrast ratios.
