My daughter sat on my lap today
looked lovingly and had something to say,
“Daddy, what’s innocence?”
I softly smiled
as she blinked.
Twice.
“Sweetheart, innocence is being able to be comfortable with you…
a gentle,
thoughful break
sitting on a park bench.
I think quietly
like the rustle of red leaves.
A child with a red balloon
smiles and waves despite
Mother teaching her not
to talk to strangers.
I said …
But oh the mess you leave for me, the Mind.
For once you’ve felt it, it’s gone.
And it’s my job, mind you, to figure out.
To sift through and analyze. To pick up your chaos
All things must pass,
and you did pass away,
from the bright sun of Dallas town,
into the dying LA day.
Vague nightmares of abuse,
telling your friends you’re just “confused” about it no…
Above the ashes
Let Your name arise
And when my life flies in flashes
Before my upturned eyes
I’ll be watching rain fall
and trying to find
An excuse to go outside and play.
No help
No inspiration
The window looks at you with it’s grin
If only you could break through the surface
And let it all come flooding in…

At one with the sky watching with clouds above eyes, lit by the moon light, so high, so high,
