Topic: WMG Group & Red Bubble / Hello Everyone

Hi I owe a big apology to everyone first because I realise now that I should have introduced myself when I joined the group …….. so please accept my apologies!
I’m still a sort of newcomer to RB and still trying to find my way round.
My user name is silverstrummer – but it really is David and I come from the middle of England … known as The Midlands (that figures!!) I lost my wife 10 years ago which has changed my mental state as I seem to be able to mimic a poet so I have been told, people have said I should put my poems into a book but I don’t consider them to publishable really. I do have a problem as I suffer with short term memory loss due to a head injury 12 years ago which has also changed my mental state so you may find loads of spelling and gramma mistakes …………. so thats me in the melting pot so to speak. I would like to say thank you for accepting me into your group I really do appreciate it! – David :>))

Topic: WMG Group & Red Bubble / A big, smiley hello and a request :o)

Hiya from Geelong, Australia. I am mostly doing photography here on Redbubble but every now and then I get the urge to write. I have always loved writing and this year decided to brush off the ’ole pen and start up again.

My request is more of a proposal really, I host another group for photography and journalistic writing of public, organised events. It’s fairly new, but we are in desperate need of some writers who are interested in doing factual or editorial type writings about major events in your area. Our goal is to eventually pair up writers and photographers for collaborations. If we can get this going, it will mean eventually an online magazine will be able to be launched, with articles on events of all types from around the world. A great insight into different cultures!

The group, if you are interested, is MAJOR EVENT – Photography/Journalism

For the hosts of this ‘spendiferous’ group, I would be more than happy to promote your group and it’s members in an ongoing effort to promote the talent found here!

Topic: WMG Group & Red Bubble / What do Writers' Want and Need (Opinions to better the Writers' Market group)

Thanks Vincent. I see where you are coming from. WMG is for all types of writers and features various levels of writing, i.e, a great piece from a novice to polished work from a seasoned writer. As time goes on, I have realised this group is more a place to help writers promote their works by providing ideas, notifying opportunities and assisting with self exposure in ways such as the blogazine.

If you are looking for a more selective writing group, there is the Masterpieces: Literary Workshop group who are quite selective. I can’t see the harm in being involved in both.

Topic: WMG Group & Red Bubble / What do Writers' Want and Need (Opinions to better the Writers' Market group)

I would like to be part of a writing group or community that is selective.

What I mean is this: it seems it would be more productive to have only extremely well written pieces accepted so that whatever help or benefit there may be to being part of this group can be focused on writers who really just need a little nudge this way or that to get published – instead of on writers who need a lot of help.

I guess you could also say that if one’s work is very good it will stand out among the rest.

However, I’d rather be excluded from a great group than part of a group where anything is accepted. This would really motivate me to improve my writing so that I could benefit from the network that is the Writer’s Market Group.

Topic: WMG Group & Red Bubble / [Group Request] Emotive Photography Group

The Emotive Photography Group are looking to collaborate with writers on the challenge listed below:

  1. Members to be given a snippet of a story about once a fortnight (this would be a short paragraph each time). Their goal is to create an “emotive” image depicting the writing. End result will be a collaboration of words and images to tell the overall tale…

The group need writers who are willing to assist with either an entire story (relatively short) or passages/paragraphs of a story. For more information, please contact one of the moderators at the Emotive Photography group.

Go to the heart of what moves your baby here. Forget all the reasons that appease everyone. Let your highest sense of esthetic value guide you. What will be done in the leave of your art?

Be careful of challenging artists to challenge each other. The work itself should challenge the senses of the receiver of the art.

I must honestly expose the truth here. Having been selected by WMG Blogazine in the past, I almost talked myself out of responding here. I almost disqualified my opinion here from having any fair validity, but I am too moved to say something to be that judgmental of myself or you the reader who might judge my suggestions/opinion here. Please let me share something that happened to my sense of gratitude that might not happen to anyone again once this process changes into … ? I must say that being selected without having submitted work (except to the group itself) and without any foreknowledge of theme or even the blogazines existence was an honor beyond compare. What a massively humble moment it was to simply be recognized by a peer without solicitation of work or any relationship to the person or people who published it. And out of a group that excepts so much work with so few restrictions.

And so for now I am not sure what direction you should go. But, it is your baby. Whatever you do and however you do this is the future, I hope it is in light of the art of being a moderator of a group, (An art form in and of itself) with results your creative self would be honored to live with as a statement that suits you ideal dream of acknowledging the unrecognized art here. Promoting the art that promotes being an artist whose work stands out regardless of compare, popularity, politics, political weight, or name recognition. I will be more than happy to respond to anyone who wishes to say, or ask something in response to their reading this. Just send a Bmail with some reference (to your point of reference) to this.

Thank you WMG and all its members.

AustralianReader.com listings and group competition winners should be an intant choice.

I agree use both it makes sense to let artists know what the theme will be
[now you tell me how it was done before! lol]
but don’t limit them to only having to be linked, this can create issues for those who prefer to work solo or cant find a link to work with.

How else can you select work?
Popularity?

Topic: WMG Group & Red Bubble / WMG Blogazine Suggestion

Thank you everyone who provided some valuable feedback in regards to the blogazine. I received some great suggestions.

The next issue is being considered. I’m interested to see if people want to jump aboard in regards to selecting works for the issue. I already have one person interested.

  1. What I’m looking for is to have at least one or two people per section. I’ve created a forum thread where people can post their interest. In doing so, I’ll be able to easily track who has had a go and who hasn’t.

But, before we can work on this months issue. I’d like to address the big question first. How would we like to select the works from now on?

Currently, I pick works based on a theme and using tag words. This can be limiting and not to mention time consuming.

Here are a couple of ideas and suggestions I’ve received:

  1. Pre-announcements of the upcoming theme
  2. Create a forum thread where people can link works they would like to include/consider for the blogazine.

One section I’m planning to add is a special page for New Members but I’d like to have the selection process planned out first before I create that.

What do you think?

Would you like to be involve with the blogazine and hand pick a selection of works from our group gallery?

If you would, please post your interest here. I’ll bubblemail you with details (once we have a selection process in place).

The first ten people to volunteer for the month of the upcoming issue will be selected.

Ok, I’ve finished my short story and I’ll be posting a proper link soon. (it’s way too long to fit the “writing” tag so I’m gonna make a couple of entries as a “sneak peek” but the thing is finished, fear not)
