Dimension: 22”X30” on 300 pound watercolor Strathmore paper Medium: Windsor & Newton Oils This is homage to the “King of Pop.” I grew up loving the gentle soul Michael Jackson…his music, his moonwalk, his moves…and when I heard the news he passed away…I literally wept. I had this dream of Michael Jackson, and felt this was a calling for me to paint him. This painting is in memory of the greatest legend in my times, and as for all times. I picked one of my favorite songs he sang,”I’ll Be There,” when he was young…as I know he never left and will always be there! “You and I must make a pact, we must bring salvation back Where there is love, I’ll be there I’ll reach out my hand to you, I’ll have faith in all you do Just call my name and I’ll be there I’ll be there to comfort you, Build my world of dreams around you, I’m so glad that I found you I’ll be there with a love that’s strong I’ll be your strength, I’ll keep holding on Let me fill your heart with joy and laughter Togetherness, well that’s all I’m after Whenever you need me, I’ll be there I’ll be there to protect you, with an unselfish love that respects you Just call my name and I’ll be there If you should ever find someone new, I know he’d better be good to you ‘Cause if he doesn’t, I’ll be there Don’t you know, baby, yeah yeah I’ll be there, I’ll be there, just call my name, I’ll be there (Just look over your shoulders, honey – oo) I’ll be there, I’ll be there, whenever you need me, I’ll be there Don’t you know, baby, yeah yeah I’ll be there, I’ll be there, just call my name, I’ll be there… “

Pastel on sanded Colourfix paper (burgundy) – 35cm x 50cm I did this painting as a pastel demonstration at a local show. The lamp was borrowed from a friend (Margot) and I added an old ginger jar and an apple. The peacock feather seemed to have a little bit of the colour of each item in it, so I just added that to unify the whole thing. Featured in the ‘Still Life’ Group – Jan 2009 / Featured in Solo Exhibition – Jan 2010

Watercolour Chalk & Watercolour Pencil on Quill Paper. This work was inspired by a friend who is going through a tough time in her life. Sunflowers are a symbol of hope and happiness in her line of work dealing with suicide prevention & awareness. In her battle with depression, she requested that I create a piece for her wall to remind her every day there is hope and happiness her world.
I see the shine of gold seeping through moss covered stone, slurred speech from a distant radio, soaked clothes clinging to cold flesh, silent songs from yesterday’s spring dance, and racing water that plunges in all directions. / I stick my toe in. The reflection scatters in all directions along with tiny insects and fish shadows under sprinkles of star-like gems of light. / The gold may be a mirage. Or a phantom. Or a painted artifact that stands beside the shore to fool desires. / I sit on a stone and think. Just out of reach. Always just out of reach. Yet, still, I enjoy the view. A leaf tumbles from its tree branch home and flies in circles through air that pulsates with worlds invisible to my brain, yet felt in my heart, transparent, yet full of life. I fall asleep and dream. I dream of shine of gold seeping through moss covered stone. In the dream I don’t need to own it because I am aware that no human owns anything. Our only true possessions are life itself. And that is temporary. In awareness of this I become eternal and awaken to a different dream. / “Gold Reflection” is acrylic on 100# card stock paper, 15”x20”

Works on Paper. This Group is about Paper, and what Artists can do with it. The quality of work must be high. If you wouldn’t enter it in a works on paper competition then don’t put into the group. This group will represent those artists who know about the different kinds of paper and can actually tell the viewer what type of paper they are using and why. This site will hopefully be educational and will mostly speak of technique and mediums. If you are thinking of joining the Group, please read the Group Rules carefully before joining and this will save any disappointment. We are a Group with Rules, but they are fair, and do hopefully keep a pleasant and cohesive atmosphere, and a place that Visitors will look at. That being said – New Members are Most Welcome.
