Our little peanut was a rescue dog. He was abbandoned a year and half ago and we took him in. When we took him to the vet, he had a chicken bone lodged in his gums, he had fleas, heartworm, hookworm, ringworm, arthritis, cataracts and had never had a rabies shot. They found also that all of his legshad been broken at some point in his life. His tail had been broken and never healed, and he had numberous lasorations on his face and body. This poor dog had a rough life before he found us. He quickly became a loving member of our family. He became a big brother to our other dog, Bear. He is dearly miss by us all especially Bear. I made a grave marker for him and our three previous pets and he is burried beside them on the hill under the dogwoods. / This is where They are burried. Under the dogwoods on the hill. /

Old Friend My old friend, the Stanley No. 5 plane can still make a pile of shavings when called into service. You could probably get the job done in a fraction of the time using a power jointer, but there’s something special about using hand tools and ‘feeling’ your way though a task. Taken using a 50mm macro lens in late afternoon window light. Photos in the Old Friend set Old Friend Old Friend – Thumbwheel Old Friend – No.5 Old Friend – England

One of the many beautiful doors in Prague.
When my son was in Cub Souts I made this Pinewood Derby car to race. I would love to some day make a real shoe in this design. / ( this design was copyrighted 2007)
This is woodworking at it’s finest. Grandpa was trying to teach his 3yr. old grandson how to make a safari jeep out of cardboard and minimal amounts of wood. They were extremely successful!
In this picture Max, my 3yr. old son, was watching his grandfather (not pictured) use a bandsaw to cut a steering wheel out of cardboard. I also love his expression and the irony of the picture.
This is an old Titan brand chisel, much loved and much used. Who knows how many pieces of furniture it’s been used to craft, or hinge mortises its cut out for doors to hang. I liked all the textures and patina that had developed over years of use. From the nicks in the blade, splashes of paint and chips of wood missing from the handle, to the striations on the bevel of the blade. All too much for one photo, so I created three images in this set. Chiseled landscape Chiseled throat Chiseled edge I hope you enjoy them. All images were shot on a base of figured Australian redgum.
