I sorry for adding yet another ‘wave’ but I love the mood of the sea. / Couta Rocks, Tasmania. / Camera: olympus,765UZ.
This Father and Daughter pair were doing the same as I was, enjoying the crash of waves on granite rocks during a fierce Atlantic storm. The place was Peggy’s Cove, Nova Scotia, in October 2005. Camera was a Sony DSCF828. *Featured in “Blowing In The Wind”
Recently purchased my first ND filter [yay] and wanted to get outside a try it out today. Unfortunately it was not the best light [dull, grey, COLD] but there was a bit of a breeze so I shot for some minimalist high key black and white work.

Ho’okipa E ola ka ‘olelo Hawai’i Hawaiian Translation: / The Hawaiian Language Shall Live Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / All Rights Reserved Ho’okipa Maui North Shore Early Morning Light Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi Ho`okipa (hoh-oh-KEE-pah): The concept of hospitality is common to many cultures, but many people feel that Ho`okipa is different because of its broad meaning. Ho`okipa is meant to be given freely to all, and is not reserved for friends, neighbors or family. When a person is on the receiving end of ho`okipa, it is like receiving a tremendous gift. Aloha (AH-loh-hah): Aloha means hello, love, mercy, compassion, pity, or goodbye. More importantly, it is an expression of the heart. It is much deeper than this actually and I will provide more information on the meaning of Aloha soon. My husband and I are driving down the mountain soon to have dinner with family near Wailea. To all our ohana and friends / Mahalo nui for your kindness. / Aloha e Malama pono, Sharon
A view from Brodick across Brodick Bay and Merkland Wood towards Goatfell, which is one of the 4 ‘Corbetts’ on the Isle of Arran. The origin of the name ‘Goat Fell’ is taken either from the Norse ‘geita’ for goat, and ‘field’ for mountain or fell, or the Gaelic ‘Gaoithbheinn’ – Mountain of the Wind. With the sky changing and a storm approaching ‘Mountain of the Wind’ does seem more appropriate.
Ho’okipa Wai’ola / Water is the Essence of Life / O ka lewa i luna, ua pa’aia he lani / In the space above, Heaven is held fast “Above the mountains / the Geese turn into the light again / Painting their black silhouettes on an open sky Sometimes everything has to be inscribed across the heavens / So you can find the one line already written inside you. Sometimes it takes a great sky to find that small bright and indescribable wedge of freedom in your own heart. Sometimes with the bones of the black sticks left when the fire has gone out / someone has written something new in the ashes of your life. You are not leaving, you are arriving”. ~ by David Whyte from The House of Belonging Copyright © Sharon Mau 2009 / My images do not belong to the public domain. Reproduction is strictly prohibited.
