OSWOA / Miniature art 4×6 inches of a gorgeous Tabby called Neska, painted with acrylics on colourfix paper. Reference photo for this cat was taken by AinhoaPCB http://www.flickr.com/photos/ainhoap/449334207/, and was used with her kind permission. Neska has been the subject of a couple of my artworks – such a gorgeous feline!!!
Size: 8×10 inches / Medium: Acrylic / Support: Hardboard This is one of the commissions I worked on earlier this year (2009). The model Monty is a blind Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie). The reference photo given to me was not good enough to work from, so I searched my sources and found this beautiful sleeping Sheltie in Wet Convas. My client was very happy with the result, so I was too. :)
A large lithe cat, almost wild in nature, but she sure was enjoying the sun in the lounge that day. Derwent Artists colour pencils on grey mat board. A4 size 2007 Commission. Has been featured in ‘Paws n Claws’, Cats and Dogs’, Realist Traditional Art’, Wildlife and Pet Paintings’, Domestic and Pedigree Cats’ and ‘Coloured Pencil Art’ groups.
Medium: Pastel / Support: Velour This is Molly in a silly mood. Great inspiration for a pastel portrait!
This Piece, titled “Wrong Way”, is part of the wildlife series painted in watercolor by Missouri artist Paul Jackson.
I did this pencil sketch of a mother white rhino and her calf after a photographic trip to a reserve in South Africa. The game guard was kind enough to drive around to give me better angles for the light and shadow. I did an acrylic painting from this sketch, but the sketch has always had a charm for me, that I was never quite able to capture in the finished painting. I added the sepia effect later which somehow recreates a feeling of my youth in the bush of Africa better. I guess I am a little like an ageing newspaper now :) I never did find out how her ear got torn, but I like to think it was in brave defence of her baby.

Wolves are natures most maligned mammels on the planet. Natural predators, they serve to cull herds of deer, antelope, and mountain sheep by preying on the old, the sick and the weak. They help to preserve the sanctity of the herds by eliminating those who would otherwise weaken the herd. When the natural herds thinned due to man’s overhunting, they began to prey on cattle, which gave them the bad name of today. The re-introduction of grey wolves into our park systems is a step in the right direction toward preserving these magnificent animals.

“If we love our children
we must love the earth with tender care
and pass it on, diverse and beautiful,
so that on a warm spring day
10 000 years hence
they can feel peace in a sea of grass,
can watch a bee visit a flower,
can hear a sandpiper call in the sky,
and can find joy in being alive”
