About This Group
Westernport Bay covers 270 square kilometres, is relatively shallow and contains extensive areas of saltmarsh/mangrove and seagrass communities. Western Port consists of rocky platforms, sandy beaches and marine habitats. It is an area of great biological diversity due to its unusual wide range of habitat types. French Island is home to migratory wader birds, pelican and Short-tailed Shearwater rookeries, and many other significant fauna species.
Westernport bay also supports a wide range of towns,hamlets,Industry and recreational activities
