I took this photo in the heritage museum “Kiekeberg” near Hamburg in northern Germany. / The open air museum shows reminders of daily life in former times. Many old thatched cottages are re-erected and furnished with original supplies. / Walking the paths, I noticed this old wooden wheel leaning against the wall and found it so picturesque I had to give it a try. pp: enhanced contrast and decreased brightness slightly, changed to sepia by a filter called “old newspaper” and then adjusted levels of contrast and brightness again. I hope you like it. Kindest regards, Heike
My turn to upload a monochrome horse’s head. I know, I know, I could have been more original, but this fellow shot in Blainville, Quebec, was so irresistible! Each year, dozens of immigrants die in waters of the Strait of Gibraltar trying to reach the Spanish coast. From the Viewpoint of the Strait in Algeciras (Andalusia), Europe and Africa are looking face to face. Just 14 kilometres away by sea between the two continents, separating them. The proximity means that thousands of men, women and children risk their lives in pursuit of a dream. Escaping poverty in order to give their families a better future. Because of water currents, strong Levante wind (able to reach 100km/h) and the precariousness of their boats just a few succeed. Those who survive are called ‘paperless’ by the media. / I’ll call them heroes. I love that this shed is forgotten, yet I would love to have a shed like this! I also love that the shrubs are starting to take over the entrance.

Quick tonal study, oil painting. Diana-Lee Saville kindly nominated this painting to be added to the Pay-It-Forward Group. The nomination has been accepted which is a huge compliment to my work. This is what Diana-Lee had to say about this work “I would LOVE to nominate this Arab Mare and Foal. It is one of those works I can’t stop looking at!! It has a lovely old world feel to it.” Thankyou Diana-Lee, I feel honoured that my work is appreciated this way!

This triptych of an assembly of classic powder blue coloured Triumph TR3 Sports Cars was photographed during an annual Triumph TR3 Club gathering on Westport Park, Port Macquarie , NSW, Australia, on a beautiful spring afternoon. In the third shot I was going to ask those two TR3 enthusiasts at the end of the line if they would move but decided against that and asked them to keep still for a few seconds instead. An eighth vehicle turned up right after I made the last shot but I wasn’t going to go through all that again as more and more people began milling around and walking through the scene. Cars kept alive by Cubans in Havana.
Every year in June in Mayfield Village, Ohio they close down the main 5 lane road and have a car cruise. There’s a small fee that they collect (for charity) as you drive the mile circuit and every spot is a good spot to see! There are several car shows going on, live bands and plenty of good food! This is a 1973 360 ‘Cuda, bright yellow and it looks much brighter in person.

This truck belongs to a very dear man, I call him, Mr. Frank. Mr. Frank and his lovely wife, Billie, live in Fanny Bay, here on Vancouver Island, Canada. A 1957 International truck. / I did it in black & white, but the color is a hunter green.
