Wanderings

Group Rules:

Ultimately I intended this group to be only nature photography. But as I thought more about the idea of WANDERINGS I found myself compelled to include travel and landscape and culture and basically the people, places, critters, and experiences that make the art of trekking out into the natural less urban world with a camera so invigorating and rewarding. So there will be members I have chosen to invite who know nothing about critters or landscapes but they travel well and take breathtaking images that tell a story I want heard! I will also at times select members to join who are not photographers but are drawers and painters because they too have a creative process that can be inspiring and transcendental. Ultimately all topics for publication need to be cleared by me so that the diversity of the group continues to evolve. I will not structure conributions that would overlap or be too similar to this end. For example, once we have a compelling essay on file about say polar bears in the arctic or the Zulu’s in Africa, that will be the only one. So before any of you who have been invited and accepted the call by joining need to clear your topic with me before devoting time to creating it. This prevents your and my dissappointment when you submit it but I say sorry, we already have that or that I feel it should betweaked somewhat. Think of this experience as a sort of get your feet wet exercise in case you ever thought about writing a photo essay for submittal to an actual printed magazine or rag. Questions are always encouraged, and this can really be what we make it.

Everyone has an experience as a nature and travel photographer, the words behind the image about the sweat and preparation, the trials and tribulations related to capturing the elusive and fleeting moments of time through the eyes and environments of nature and foreign lands. This group is by invitation only, and is intended to combine the rich tapestry of visual and written word into a collection of the finest stories and images tied to the natural world that Redbubble has to offer. The SOLE purpose of this group is to showcase those photographers who delve into true nature photography be it far afield or right in town, because they spend the time and thought on the wholeness of their efforts. The written word that tells the story that live through the images.

If I have selected you for this group and requested your membership via an invitation, then should you accept to join the group your task for memberships is to submit a piece of writing/images in a photo essay format sort of like a travel essay or short article in a photography magazine based upon the following format guidelines. You as a member will submit 1 written article accompanied by as many images along a single shoots attempt as you feel are necessary for proper flow of the essay. Keep in mind you want to pick WOW images to grab the eye and intrigue the reader. Thus this will be a writing only group but with emphasis on the joining of imagery with the story, and previously published articles are a possibilitry for inclusion. I want in-depth work ala like would be written in National Geographic or other magazine styles. Not necessarily overly technical but also not just fluff. Photo/text articles as it were of 500-2500 words and a minimum of 3 images but no more than 10 images.

At the end of the calendar year, I envision the year’s selected works to be compiled into a self published book to be offered for sale through Redbubble by all contributing artists, and all proceeds will be donated to the Save The Tiger Fund at the end of the following year. All member invitations, selections, and any decisions related to the general group management will be solely up to Mundy Hackett.

This group is about celebrating nature, but also the effort, thoughts, reminiscing, and celebrations of the entire experience by the finest wildlife, nature and landscape photographers found anywhere on the world wide web! There will be absolutely no acceptance of stand alone imagery of any kind.
