  • Dilapidated Barn and The Grand Tetons WY by halnormank

It took some time to position the camera precisely where I wanted it to match the pre-visualization bouncing around in my head which also included camera height. / I was taken with the idea of the mountains eternal (we know better) and the overwhelming transience of man (and that’s something we are all very familiar with). I used the No.25 red filter to take advantage of the ‘bald’ sky to render a stark image. The camera of choice was the medium format RZ67 II w/180mm Tele and the combination of a No.25 red filter and polarizer. The camera was set for f11 1/8 sec. using Ilford's Pan-f Plus film rated at ISO-50. The film was developed in Gordon Hutchings PMK developer 1:2:100 75 degrees. That was N-1 development as well as minus agitation to ‘modulate’ the values of the very stark scene.

  • Antelope Canyon by sideways

This place was stunning, and the light was fantastic. It is definitely worth a visit, but I would recommend a tripod if you do.

  • Arches by snaptoit

I believe that this arch is on the Utah license plates. I had to walk up a mountain to get to this view of the arch. To my surprise there was about 100 people up there all waiting to photograph this at sunset. If you ever get a chance to be there I would suggest go early to get a good spot for your tripod, and bring a jacket. It can get a little cold up there. Don’t forget a flashlight too it gets really dark before you get to the bottom of the mountain.

  • Abearance by Benjamin Charles

Mesa Arch, Canyonlands National Park – Utah. / Exposure. In hopes to explain the title of the image, Abearance is defined as behavior. Take a look at this image by a great photographer named Steve Taylor and you will understand: / http://www.redbubble.com/people/stevetaylor/art/975986-1-mesa-madness My it seems we have developed a rather abusive love hate relationship with this particular natural area. Just remember to be careful out there people, a lot of us put a desperate kind of love into natural world, please help to preserve it. • "Mount Shuksan and Picture Lake in the Fall" by Lynn Bawden

Looking East From Picture Lake Into North Cascades National Park, Washington. The day I went up to Picture Lake to take this photo, it was extremely windy. I thought my day was wasted as I really wanted to capture the reflections of Mount Shuksan. When I got my camera set up for the shoot, the wind subsided and the resulting picture was taken. When I finished the shoot, the wind started up again and the reflections disappeared. That was a lucky day for me…....Lynn /

  • View from The Bend by Wilson Wyatt Photography

Horseshoe Bend, Glen Canyon. / Shot with a Nikon D-200, 17-55 f2.8 at f18, 1/10th second, 17mm. A beautiful morning out on the Bend, this was shot before the sun hit the rim and then the water at 5:49 AM. We had the place to ourselves but for one other photographer who dissapeared quickly. It is rare to have such beauty in complete solitude, and I was grateful for it. The winds were high at my back, maybe 10-15 MPH, making you very aware that you were on the edge of a cliff, tripod butted up to the last inch and foot pushing the body away. Great morning, I wanted to post a shot that was not a full view that we see so often.

  • Up the River, Glen Canyon looking North by Wilson Wyatt Photography

D200 with 17-55 f2.8, / shot at f18 at 1/60th of a second at 17mm. On the way home to the Valley of the Sun we drove down towards Lee’s Ferry. It being noonish I did not expect to get the camera out much as light is bad anywhere at that time, particularly in the desert. The land was blessed with some great clouds giving depth and contrast to the day and I was able to get some nice shots. This is hand held which is unusual for me… obviously not enough coffee at 1/60, I usually have a bit of a vibration going by noon!
