A homage to Edward Hopper. I love Edward Hopper’s oil painting, Office at Night. This image just reminded me of the spirit of that Hopper painting: All that darkness about the the pure light within. We are looking to showcase the best examples of modern Urban Art.
Love it or hate it.. “The City” is our most visible impact on the planet.
Urban is an interesting word.. we talk about the urbanisation of the countryside ?
Many artists draw inspiration from urban life.. and street art has also become more important in recent years.
We are looking for the best artworks derived from the broad spectrum of modern urban living.
A work is most likely to be accepted if it highlights urban life in an unusual or interesting way.
Straightforward urban landscape photographs will probably be rejected unless they are exceptional and have something unusual to say. There is already a well established excellent group for Cityscapes.
Photographs of other peoples art works (sculptures, street art, etc) located in the city are also likely to be rejected, unless they really have the WOW factor and you are doing something very unusual and interesting reinterpreting the original art work. We are looking specifically for YOUR artistic interpretation of urban life.
The group is open to anyone to join but all works will be moderated. We won’t enter into discussion on accepting/rejecting works, as we really don’t have the time. At the end of the day it is just our opinion. Artists will be restricted to 10 works so please submit your best works. More background info on submissions here
Urban art is pretty hot at present, and we think we have some exciting work in this group, so if any real world galleries are interested in staging an exhibition based on the excellent art in this group, we would be very interested to promoting it for you. Also if you are an artist in this group and you have an exhibition planned please feel free to post this information in the forums.
