Comment Favorite Books

In my last posting, When Elephants Weep, I included a list of recommended reading that relates to the subject matter. I have an extensive list of books written for children and adults that are very meaningful to me some of which I wrote about on RB like The Giving Tree, The Velveteen Rabbit, The Earth Sea Trilogy and others I will be writing about in the future. I have saved the best for last, The Little Prince that like books mentioned above are written on several levels to be enjoyed by children and adults. I enjoy a wide range of books including imaginative literature like science fiction and fantasy, children’s books, psychology and psychopharmacology, Since I an a Psychologist the books I recommend are not dry academic textbooks, but important literature for parents and non professionals. I also have an extensive list of books on animals with inspiring photographs and informative and enlightening text. The book that I paired with my recent photo When Elephants Weep is one great example of the fascinating literature about our animal friends, both domestic and wild. Books focused on animals often teach us about ourselves. I recently was asked to read the book, Thanking the Monkey that I recently ordered and will find time to read this highly recommended book. The outstanding books written by Temple Grandin who is an autistic adult who communicates in pictures wrote two fascinating books, Thinking in Pictures and Animals in Translation. Reading books on past lives and parapsychology is another category of interest. Brian Weiss, a Yale trained Psychiatrist has written some intriguing books that will be of great interest if you have not already read his first book, Many Lives, Many Masters among several others. In the art and music challenge, we shared our interest in music. I am creating this section in the forum for the members to add books that you think will benefit others. psych Since humor is important when dealing with psychological and medical issues, books that amuse and entertain are also vitally important. My list could fill this page and plan to have time to create a bibliography that relates specifically to the psychological and medical issues that are relevant to our group. I
also want to share books that reflect my wide ranging interests. I think sharing literature that is inspiring and important increases our awareness of many critical issues that reflect us personally and globally as we strive to cope with the stresses of modern day life and the urgent issues that threatens our planet and ultimately our survival. I look forward to reading about your favorite books. Please add your name;my hope is that group members can benefit from discussions to create a more interactive experience.

I have been receiving artwork and videos about very important issues that we all need to be aware of so we can do what we can to actively deal with these critical problems that are prevalent around the world. YouTube provides videos like the song and photo collage of John Prine that is a moving testament to the plight of the homeless. I thought it might be interesting to create a challenge for our group to use these images to create your own artwork or pair the image seen with writing, poetry or as I did with my photo Silent Rejection to pair it with a lyric that relates to the theme. Let me know how you feel about creating this type of challenge and please post any videos or images that relate to significant issues in today’s world. The proceeds of the winners would go to charities that promote research on the many physical and emotional disorders of our group that I will list with legitimate charities that are active in researching many psychological and medical disorders. Below, you can copy the link in your tool bar to see the four issues to discuss in the forum. I appreciate your feedback on this idea.

Comment Diagnosis and Treatment

I am creating a list of the psychological and medical disorders that members of our
group have disclosed associated with their work or have written to me in private
bubblemails. It will make my task easier if you will include your diagnosis, psychiatric
and medical, treatment prescribed including medications to treat your condition.
If you do not want to add this information in the forum, you can send me a
private e-mail @thehealingjourney@yahoo.com that I created for our group. There
are many members that are afflicted with the same illness and can share their
experiences to offer information and support. I also will write about the emotional or
physical disabilities offering my professional experience after I receive your
feedback.

Comment Healing Paintings

Sophie Shapiro has offered to do healing
painting for the members or our group.
Her extraordinary paintings can be seen in
the group, Unseen. Before we decided
to combine our efforts, I suggested that
she paint three healing paintings for members
of our group. The first was dedicated to
Flipteez who was diagnosed with breast cancer. With great courage and a strong spirit, she
endured a mastectomy and aggressive
chemotherapy. She set a wonderful example
for those who are afflicted with a life
threatening disease and continues to do
so as she continues treatment.. Early detection is
critical. Sophie painted an inspirational painting
while flipteez was recovering that deeply
touched her and reinforced her amazing
spirt and determination. I will continue to refer
members of our group to benefit from
Sophie’s generous gift. Our group is dedicated
to healing and if you choose to recommended
someone in our group including yourself
to receive a healing painting, please b-mail
me so I can add your recommendations to my list.

Comment Tribute to the memory of Michael Jackson
0 topics, 0 posts

This month, I am featuring two groups of
featured artists. That will give me the opportunity
to feature twenty four artists. The second feature
will be a tribute to Michael Jackson. I will feature
the artists for the healing journey on July 15th or 16th. You will have until the end of this month to create your tribute to MJ’s memory. You can
pair an image with lyrics of one of his songs
or a video from YouTube or write a poem to
MJ. Create whatever you feel is an appropriate
tribute to the life of this magical artist
that will live forever through his songs
and humanitarian efforts. My photograph,
strange autumn rose is paired with a poem written by the spiritual poet Rumi titled
“autumn rose elegy” and Smile are two examples
of my personal memorial to my
memories of Michael Jackson’s life and profound humanitarian contributions to “heal the world.” I will
choose the featured artists at the end of this month.
I choose to do this now while your thoughts
and feelings are fresh to inspire your
art, writing or poetry. This fits our group’s
intent to walk the path of healing using
the expressive arts to create an emotional
tribute to MJ’s amazing spirit who broke
global boundaries to heal our damaged planet.
Listening to his songs is a huge wake up call
and I hope everyone in our group will discover
the opportunities in this crisis that has
impacted our planet using music as a
universal language to communicate
powerful messages and knew that “we
are the world.”
