Toronto’s iconic City Hall / E-30 wearing a Sigma 18-50mm DC f:2.8 EX This is a 10 (5×2) piece stitched panorama taken family day 2009. I couldn’t fit everything I wanted into the shot even with the wide angle zoom I had with me. I fired off 10 shots and hoped for the best. Later I used ptgui to stitch them together and applied a little faux HDR for the final shot. If you look closely you can spot the same skaters in the shot twice.
The Rose symbol has had a prolific effect on cultures and emotions. For some, it may be the first bloom of love, romance, commitment or even achievement. For others, it is an affirmation of the perfection that nature has to offer and some take it with them in death. This is my ode to the magnificent Rose. Shot with a Canon PowerShot A630 / Macro / Focal length 7.3 / Exposure 1/60 Natural light / Shot as is. Toronto, Canada September, 2009. /

Stay tuned for the winter version which more than likely will be called White Canape. Captured in Toronto, Ontario Canada Nikon D200, Nikkor 24-120mm Green Canape (the “Summer” version) / /

This image was captured during the peak of monarch buttterfly migration. Toronto is right along the route, and the butterflies take advantage of the city’s greenspaces to rest and feed. These monarchs will make their way to the volcanic mountains of central Mexico, where they will enter a kind of dormancy, spend the winter there, and mate in the early spring before beginning the trip north again. The adults will lay their eggs on fresh milkweed plants; the adults die soon thereafter. A few monarchs that have overwintered in Mexico return to Ontario (during May), an incredible journey of 3000 kilometres. However, it is the generation that is produced between Mexico and Canada that returns in numbers, mainly in June. This beauty was feeding on asters in a tiny parkette in the heart of the city, surrounded by tall buildings. St. James Park / Toronto Nikon D90, 18-200 mm lens
