A quick change from a cold overcast day to a clear one revealed this dramatic change over the mountain peaks (9,000’) These are the peaks of the Organ Mountains which in turn are part of the southern Rocky Mountains of New Mexico. and this view is only a part of the entire row of mountains I can see every day from my backyard and at my dining room table. You’d think I would have taken a series of wonderful shots at that time but the scene changed so rapidly, I was lucky to pull this rabbit out of the hat, so to speak. We had to pay extra for the view when we built the house. Now we call it our “Thousand Dollar View”! Thank you Boredom Group Competition for FEATURING my picture after WINNING the Competition!!!. A family poses in front of their home. / Do your children have good, wearable, outgrown clothing? This family needs clothes that have not been worn out, handed down, used up, and that cover their bodies. In no time, modesty will no longer be met. Adults in this village need clothing, too. / The girls need head-scarves to be ‘properly dressed’ and to protect their hair from the sun. (It isn’t a ‘religious thing’, nor a ‘style thing’, it’s to protect head and hair from the desert sun.) / Please get in touch with our charity mission in Great Briton. / / My heart breaks for them and I live to help them. / Children without parents, without food, without care. / Children who die young, who live on less than $1 per day. / Don’t look on our children to hate, laugh or condemn. / Don’t hide your eyes, turn away, and remain unaware. / Don’t say “No” because, for these, it is “Yes” you should say. / (R) dayonda 16 Nov 2009 All PROCEEDS from SALE of my ART, plus DONATIONS MADE to “PHILADELPHIA MISSION CHARITY”:http://www.philadelphia33.org GOES to HELP EXTREME POOR and SICK in REMOTE and RURAL VILLAGES in AFRICA. One of the most beautiful of all species endemic to Tasmania, the waratah blooms around early spring. These majestic flowers can be found all over the state, but especially throughout the west coast region. We have a nearby township named after these magnificent blooms, appropriately called “Waratah”. Any person visiting Tasmania during the flowering season would find the roadsides around this town alive with wild waratah blooms flowering on shrubs up to around 20 feet high. I love these flowers, and I love taking photo’s of them. This one was shot in a garden at our local hospital. Once the vignetting filter was added, I managed to even impress myself with the way this shot turned out. /

This is the original Sparks Lane image. Taken in Cades Cove, The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I arrived before the sunrise and grabbed my Canon Pro-1 to scout a good location to set up the tripod. As I was standing there the sun popped over a ridge and afraid I would lose the moment going for the tripod I started snapping away. This view only lasted a few seconds and I managed to snap a few decent shots.

This is the most beautiful time of the year when / the leaves fall in striking and colorful combinations. / Although, the artist is nature and there is no / preconceived composition, these vibrant / leaves create a beautiful abstract. It is important to view this in the large format to enjoy the / impact of these vibrantly colorful leaves. “Every October it becomes important, no, necessary / to see the leaves turning, to be surrounded / by leaves turning; it’s not just the symbolism, / to confront in the death of the year your death, / one blazing farewell appearance, though the irony / isn’t lost on you that nature is most seductive / when it’s about to die, flaunting the dazzle of its / incipient exit, an ending that at least so far / the effects of human progress (pollution, acid rain) / have not yet frightened you enough to make you believe / is real; that is, you know this ending is a deception / because of course nature is always renewing itself— / the trees don’t die, they just pretend, / go out in style, and return in style: a new style.” Poem: Leaves / Poet: Lloyd Schwartz
Mineral Wells, Texas / Placed on National Register of Historic Places in 1982.Stories about ghosts in the hotel abound, and it is also alleged that Bonnie and Clyde may have spent a night there. It had a national reputation as a health spa where guests bathed in hot mineral water. Built in 1929, the hotel rises fourteen stories over the small town of Mineral Wells. It housed 450 guest rooms, and had two ballrooms, an in-house beauty shop, and other novelties such as a bowling alley, a gymnasium, and an outdoor swimming pool. said a lot of creepie crawlies. I’d think I’d rather spend a night in a haunted house than sleeping overnight in this one. Seen just off the road in Necessity, Texas, a place you are likely not to find on the map. Stuff people always want to know: / Taken with a Canon EOS Rebel XTi with my Sigma DG 28-300mm lens set at 58mm and settings at f/5.6; 1/60th sec.; ISO160 Original JPG image then copied to make 5 identical images, Photomatrix Pro 3.2 set exposures at +2 to -2 Color correction and very slight Orton effect applied
