The harbour area of the Croation city of Split. Split is one of the oldest cities in the area, and is traditionally considered to be just over 1,700 years old, although recent discoveries would seem to indicate that it may be several hundred years older. Behind the modern promenade is the Diocletian’s Palace built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian at the turn of the fourth century AD. Single RAW image Tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 3.2. Best in Full Size Our visit to Greece was all too short … this particular image is representative of all of beautiful Corfu … taken from the terrace of the Paleokastritsa Monastery in July of 2005 with the Olympus C-5000 zoom. I’ve been playing with this image, off and on, for months so am not at all certain at this point what different things I’ve done to it. Pretty sure there’s HDR in there somewhere, with the original hand-held image duplicated a few times and put through Photomatix. I did a lot of hand painting … in particular of the flowers in the foreground … but then I think an Orton sort of blurred the details, so I went back and re-painted the white flowers. Also, several texture layers … one actually behind the water area (which was miserably blown out) to give it life, and one or two over the image as well. Not to mention some work in Levels and some Dodging and Burning. A labor of love, as they say, as the trip to Greece and Corfu were a dream come true!!! My thanks to CGTextures, Princess of Shadows of Deviant Art, and Ghostbones on Flickr for the textures.

They love gather together, stay along with friends around the table eating, drinking and singing their songs At the same way they want to pamper the tourists and let them to feel themselves just like as they are at home… And what is more lovely than eat so close to the sea? Yeah, the table was just set almost…”in” the water….as You can see in the following shot… / SUCH A FANTASTIC PLACE TO HAVE A LUNCH!!!...Do you agree? Do U want to know all about SKIATHOS? Kassiopi in Corfu has one of the prettiest little harbours. / It was a thriving settlement in Roman times, then a quiet fishing village but now it’s grown into a sizable resort with lots of tourist appeal. This part of the Corfu coast is more rugged and less built-up than further south, so it appeals to people who want to get an authentic taste of the island. There is plenty of opportunity to explore the area around Kassiopi by going inland into the hills. Kassiopi’s horse-shoe shaped harbour is still home to local fisherman who bring in their daily haul which gives the resort plenty of character and colour. /
...Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, / Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, / While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, / As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. / ”’Tis some visitor,” I muttered, “tapping at my chamber door / Only this, and nothing more.” ... / ... / E.A.Po. / . / canon 450,kit.
Another attempt at something a little bit different for me. I generally stick to colour, but I thought I would try converting a few of my images into mono. The original colour version is below (click on the colour image to view it properly). Colourful Gondolas full of tourists, Vaporettos full of commuters, cruise ships and pleasure boats of all kinds can be seen navigating the wide Giudecca Canal in Venice, Italy. In the background is the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore, designed by Andrea Palladio and located on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Facing the Bacino di San Marco, the church plays a central role in the panorama from the Piazzetta. (Information supplied by Wikipedia). Single RAW image Tonemapped in Photomatix Pro 3.2.
