On a hot Summer afternoon – happens to be a Sunday, but the view could have been the same even before the introduction of the Christian Calendar! Walking around Plaka, aiming vaguely towards the Acropolis, and turning around a corner, I saw this beautiful view of Athens, from on high, complete with ancient temple – what more could I want?! / This site is listed by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture. For even more information on this temple: the Wikipedia entry / Taken from just under the Acropolis (with my Fujifilm Finepix F31fd, f=24mm, aperture = f/7.1, ISO 100). / The picture was featured in the Mysterious Balkans group. / / Another of my postcards from Athens (just won the Capital City with Matching Flag challenge and was Featured in the “Capital Cities Of the World” group (the picture is a link to the group) /

“Les Dieux sont tombés sur la Tête” A building in Bucarest – Romania Very interesting and dramatic concept. This is typical I guess from that big city that could mix very dramatic, old and vintage building with very strong and powerful advertising policy. A way to feel the powerful mutation of the society. Now I just can’t wait to take me a fresh drink ! :DDD
Athens – Greece
The life in Bucharest can wear on you….the traffic here is no worse than any major city in Europe… a lot of agitation…ppl running to do their stuffs.. but even like this.. if U will go in a restaurant at the end U will believe that U are ignored…. they are moving very slowly… unbelievably slow!!! Trying to find someone to help you in a store with a question you have is quite impossible.. we was a few days ago to buy smth in one of the most nicest store(a huge one!). But.. even it was open since more than half an hour… we found the shops inside 50% of them closed and a few girls that they are working there, told us with a nonchalance that I never saw… (usually when U get in a market the sales man ask U what do U want he try to help U or smth like this)that we have to wait, maybe they wanna drink a coffee before or to speak about what they did last night.. I dunno……… here we found a girl who told us with serenity that we have to wait because her colleague didn’t arrived yet and the store in fact is closed and she don’t have the key to enter inside…. duuuuuuuuh!?!? / it’s a general attitude of seeming to not care… is frustrating!!! ps:Watch out for that dog!

Not long ago, mankind nearly destroyed this land with warfare. But nature has found an ingenious way to rejuvenate this land, almost as if by miracle. This Eden is Plitvice Lakes National Park, the oldest national park in Europe, located in Croatia’s Dinaric Mountains. Plundered during the Balkan War in the early 1990’s, Plitvice owes its new existence to a type of limestone called travertine, which has the ability to grow quickly and continuously, creating new pools and barriers, water slides, and cascades. There are 16 falling lakes arranged in breathtaking terraces, connected by countless waterfalls and rapids. Underneath the Dinaric Mountains, rainwater gathers and rushes through subterranean caverns, drawing lime from the stone. Here, stalactites hang and species dwell that are so rare and strange they defy the imagination.
