Model – Sarah / (My baby sister!) And Sarah sits alone / And I see her crying on the phone / Don’t let him hurt you / Cause you don’t need that now Sarah, remember all the times / We would stay up late beside the fire / With all your friends there / And me playing my guitar So don’t lock yourself in your room / Cause everyone outside cares for you / Write down your thoughts / Upon your head / Sarah, I’m still your brother / Won’t you let me in? You’re getting older now / Make sure you’re thinking for yourself / Don’t let them taint you / Or put you in harms way And I know that dad is gone / And mother is in pain and covered up / Don’t think I don’t know / How hard it is to be alone And so don’t lock yourself into your room / Cause everyone outside here cares for you / Write down the thoughts / That come upon your head / Cause Sarah, I’m still your brother / So let me in And I know that life is hard / But if we all gave up / Then what’s to live for / And I’ve tried that / And look what I am / So Sarah, I’m still your brother / Why won’t you let me in? Won’t you let me in? / I should have called / To see how you’ve been / Oh won’t you let me in / Sarah, I’m still your brother / Won’t you Let me in

Maiko, or an apprenticing Geisha, in the heart of the Gion district of Kyoto, Japan. This picture tells a bit of a story… / It is evident that the girl dressed in normal everyday clothing is most likely the ‘younger sister’ of the beautifully dressed Maiko. Younger sister is a figurative term in Japan, given to the girls who study from practicing Maiko or Geisha until they are ready to become Maiko themselves. It is apparent that she is the younger sister, because she is carrying the belongings of the Maiko. / Of course, the Maiko is her older sister, or O-nesan. / Many Japanese people have told me I am very fortunate to have been able to capture this image, as seeing real Maiko or Geisha in Gion, or anywhere, is very rare these days, as it is a dying profession. Additionally, they have said capturing an image of a Maiko with her younger sister is just extraordinarily lucky!!!! What does Geisha mean… / Geisha translated to direct English is art person, or one could say, artist. / A Geisha is a traditional, female Japanese entertainer who is highly skilled in the classical Japanese arts. Her skills range from singing and performing traditional dance to playing classical musical instruments, such as the shamisen. Moreover, her skill at the art of conversation is highly important and she therefore tends to have knowledge of historic and current events. Geisha are expected to create an atmosphere of relaxation and entertainment. Their gracious social etiquette skills are as impeccable as is their appearance and delicate demeanor. Taking time off from the game we call Life can be pretty valuable. I think it is good as a recharging time before getting back into the mix. For Life is not an individual sport, but a team activity. But even the superstar needs some time to rest on the sideline. (Taken in Malibu California (Rock Creek State Park) in the middle of a night with a full moon. Beldrade, before cafe Sumatovac, Serbia I sow him, he looked at me and asked me to make a picture of him, since I was taking pic on the street. He put cigarette aside, to finish it latter, and stud before me. I gave him some money, even though he did not ask. But he asked me if he will be on the TV!? .... He never smiled. Instead of being angry, I started feeling guilty, taken by vicious spiral of useless ideas…. how to save him. / Felt alone. This is my fave recipe for cupcakes (and I use it for larger butter cakes too). They HAVE to have real vanilla paste in them (from supermarket or specialty grocer) and PINK icing, or they are just not as good … • 125g butter, softened / • 3/4 cup caster sugar / • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste (or vanilla extract) / • 2 eggs, lightly beaten / • 1 and ½ cups self-raising flour, sifted / • 1/2 cup buttermilk or milk / Method / 1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Using an electric mixer, cream butter, sugar and vanilla in a medium bowl on medium-high speed until pale and creamy. / 2. Add eggs in 2 batches, scraping down the sides of bowl and beating well between additions (if egg is added too quickly batter may curdle, causing a coarse, heavy, dry-textured cake). / 3. Add half the flour and stir gently to combine. Add half the buttermilk and stir until combined (adding half the flour and milk together can cause a lumpy batter). Repeat with remaining flour and buttermilk. / 4. Place large spoonfuls into muffin cases. Bake for 15 minutes or until cakes are risen and golden. Turn onto a wire rack to cool. Pink Icing: Melt a tablespoon of butter in microwave safe bowl. Add 1/2 tsp vanilla bean paste (or extract), a couple of drops of red food colouring and 2 tablespoons of milk. Mix together then add icing sugar by the spoonful until it reaches a thick but spreadable consistency. Using a knife, smooth icing onto cakes and sprinkle with coloured sprinkles. I guarantee you will fall in love with these vanilla cakes, they are my very favourite sweet treat. Bon Appetit! this image featured in the group Recipes (along with photo) in March 2009. / Thanks so much!

Transparent watercolor on cold-pressed 140lb paper. Ordinarily I paint from life or more commonly from my own photographs.
