The creator died before he could finish his hands instead, the creation is left with metal scissors for hands. He has always lived alone, until a kind lady called Peg discovers him and welcomes Edward into her home. At first, everyone welcomes him into the community, but soon things begin to take a change for the worse… Edward Scissorhands (1990) is a Tim Burton film starring Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder and Vincent Price (as the Inventor) in his last significant film work. A piece inspired by The Fountain, a film I saw quite recently. At the time I found it a bit frustrating to watch, and had to read up on it later to grasp its full meaning! However it is visually very beautiful, and the soundtrack is incredibly haunting. One of my favourite pieces of music from it may be heard here One word of advice, if you haven’t seen the film, watch the trailer first :) It helps! Close-up cropped sections of this work to showcase detail: This is a mixed media piece; created using a watercolor painting that I digitally altered with layers and layers of various colors then added enhancements with GIMP brushes I made myself. Emotions rushed through me as I finished this piece and I kinda got a little teary! Let’s just say it moved me. You see, I was about to trash the watercolor! It was an experiment in watercolor techniques….just playing around while learning. I didn’t really expect it to be anything more. This morning while clearing out some stuff in the studio I happened upon it, setting there in a stack of the same sort of experimental paintings and this little voice nagged at me to do something MORE with it…....and so this is the result. :) VIEW IT LARGE! This art work has been FEATURED in “The Dreaming Tree” group! :)

Things like this fascinate me: Against what odds: A single pinon nut falls into a rock crevice – perhaps brought there for safekeeping by a squirrel or a chipmunk – and then finds inside, enough water to germinate, to crack open its shell, and send out a root; then finds enough loose dirt in which to secure itself; enough nourishment to sustain it in this hard, high place. Life happens in the strangest of places and circumstances. / ** / Canon 350D EOS / Tamron 55/200mm + polarizing filter Corel PhotoImpact x3

© Copyright 2009 Ivana Redwine, All Rights Reserved I started with a photo I took of a tree. When I took the photo, I wanted to capture the tree’s sculptural qualities. Later, I digitally manipulated the photo to create a more emotive, subjective work. I imagined what that particular tree might look like if it were depicted as an image that was halfway between a photograph and a painting. A hybrid of photography and art, this work blends what was captured in a photograph with digital artistic manipulation, creating a picture of what previously existed only in my imagination.
