The new growth of a Cycad emerges from a ball of tight coils. Soft and malleable as new growth the leaves will roll out and become the polar opposite, stiff with sharp points and very tough. The fresh growth is favoured by the Cycad butterfly with the toughened leaves left alone.
Some dunes may be extremly big, like hills. This particular is more than 20 m high. Some are good for sand-boarding. This lonely tree seemed to still be hanging on with roots dug deep into the sand as the waves continue their assault. I admired how deep the roots went and how beautiful it still was with its beauty bared. Taken at Hunting Island State Park, South Carolina, with a Panasonic Lumix digital camera. One of my favourite flowers….because of the name, the song….and my beloved late Grandmothers name.
I captured this sky in Lymm, on my way to visit a friend. I was so glad I had my camera with me. I so love, and never tire of seeing clouds and sunsets.
Goldenrod in the woods behind my home in northeast Iowa.
Leaning out of the side door of my Narrow Boat one day, I marvelled at the stillness of the water and the reflection of the clouds. Hard to believe it is a reflection! I tried flipping the image upsidedown, but if left like that, it would have been even harder to believe it’s a reflection. I just wish I’d had a small stone to hand to make a ripple.
