This abandoned and condemmed building lies on the road to Craigies Farm just outside of Edinburgh. I walked around the back to take this photo as I was interested in what it had been and it appears to have been a residential dwelling which is now entirely gutted and crumbling. Taken freehand in monochrome with Canon 450D & Canon 18-55mm IS Lens All profits from sales in 2009 will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support: www.macmillan.org.uk

Part of a sculpture outside of Kilmainham Jail, Dublin, Ireland. At least 14 leaders of the Easter Rising were executed at Kilmainham Jail in 1916. It was closed in 1924 and is now open to the public. This sculture sits opposite the entrance to the jail and serves as a reminder of what happened inside. Taken on my first trip to Dublin in 2008 Taken with Panasonic Lumix FZ30 – straight from the camera. This is actually a light fitting making up the ceiling within the food court of the Italian version of Harrods which is directly opposite Duomo in central Milan. I liked it immediately and proceeded to get some very strange and confused looks from people! Frankly I thought it was more strange that someone would pay £300 for a bottle of water…. A pile of leaves from a fall raking made for a very interesting abstract. I used the colored pencil and glass (frosted) filter in Elements to create this dark, somewhat dreamy (nightmarish maybe) effect. Light on the stems and leaves and the shadows under really added some depth to this penciled photo and took it to a level abstract that was unexpected. To view a tutorial on a similar technique, but painting in Elements 7, please visit PhotoCapM.

Jackson’s Sawmill Covered Bridge or Eichelberger’s Covered Bridge is a covered bridge that spans the West Branch of the Octoraro Creek in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, United States. A county-owned and maintained bridge, its official designation is the West Octoraro #1 Bridge. The bridge is purportedly the only covered bridge in the county that is not built perpendicular to the stream it crosses due to the placement of the sawmill on one side of the bridge and the rock formations faced by the builders on the other side. In 1986 it was added to the National Register of Historic Places as structure number 80003520. The bridge can be found in Bart Township, 3.25 miles to the east of Quarryville and 1.5 miles south of Pennsylvania Route 372 on Mt Pleasant Road. Due to its remote location in an isolated part of the county, it is seen less than many of the county’s other covered bridges that are closer to the major populations centers such as Lancaster. If there is a Covered Bridge out there for you to see…it’s this one! 100% donated to “The ART for Cancer Group”
