I was driving home along the usual country road and came across thick fog ahead. It was cold and frosty that morning and so I thought I’d show off some of our Australian gum trees that line our country roads. Photo taken at Paris Creek, Meadows, Adelaide, South Australia
Tonight the new sign at the entrance to our town was lit up. The colours across each letter slowly change, hence I thought this could be best represented in a 3 framed HDR with time exposure of upto 30 seconds.

These three photographs were all taken in the space of 15 minutes. Oh how so much can happen in 15 minutes. After a beautiful evening shooting from the top of Mt. Lofty (the highest peak in Adelaide, South Australia), i was returning home and was the first on the scene of a car accident. The car had driven off a cliff. Greenhill road which travels to Mt. Lofty Summit has a sheer 200 metre drop to the Adelaide plains and there is no guard railing. The local drift boys use it as their ‘strip’ due to it’s tight hairpin bends. The car went twenty metres down the precipice, rolled about seven times and fetched up against a tree. The driver walked away in shock with a minor cut to the head. I took these pictures only after providing a humanitarian response and official aid had taken over the scene. P.S. CFS stands for Country Fire Service (Volunteer)
This was taken in a field near Mt Pleasant SA at about 12.30 am on a full moon the fog is just a bonus and it makes this shot moody

The Mount Barker cycle and walking path, Adelaide Hills, South Australia. This image has had the ‘Michael Orton’ effect applied. I thank my mother, Maureen for unknowingly being the figure in this image.
For a couple of days I could see a tail or a paw, or once a whole arm, coming out of Mrs Fatbum’s pouch, indicating that the baby was ready to enter the world – and then last night I took my camera out, hoping to catch a sight of a paw or a tail – and there was the whole baby, perched on Mrs Fatbum’s back, having its first Big Night Out! JUST FEATURED in Topshelf Wild Life and Nature Art – many thanks to group moderators for choosing Mrs Fatbum and her gorgeous baby!!!

I found this poem on a blog for a young eventing rider, Laine Ashker, who was critically injured at the recent Rolex Three Day Event, Lexington, Kentucky. She is recovering well, and in fact was discharged from hospital yesterday. (Update – she is competing again…) Her horse, Frodo Baggins, broke his neck and was euthanased. This poem was posted as a tribute to Frodo, and it brought a tear to my eye as well, as I remembered my beautiful old boy Jack, who is in fact buried just a few yards from this very spot (Balhannah, Adelaide Hills). If you bury him in this spot, / The secret of which you must already have, / He will come to you when you call – / Come to you over the far, dim pastures of death, / And down the remembered paths to your side again. / And though you ride other living horses throughout life / They shall not shy at him or resent him coming. / For he is yours and he belongs there. People may scoff at you, / Who see no lightest blade of grass bent by his footfall, / Who hear no nicker pitched too fine for insensitive ears. / People who may never really love a horse. / Smile at them then, for you shall know something that is hidden from them, / And which is well worth knowing. The one place to bury a horse is in the heart of his mistress. Author unknown 500 views at November 21 2009.

Photographed in Nairne in the Adelaide Hills. Taken on spring morning. I love the blanket of fog on the horizon.
We call him Prickles, we find many of these bearded dragons on the property. This big boy and some of his mates spend a lot of time around the house area and garden. I love to see them sitting up on the fence posts sunning themselves. Mount Pleasant, Sth.Australia.
The new Holland honey eaters alerted us to this red bellied snake on top of the wall along our back patio two days ago. He was right behind the tap I use to fill the bird baths. / Very intent digging himself in. Not a good place for him to be when we have visitors sitting out the back or the grand children are amass out there. Leon threw a stick on him and he pulled himself out and was off in a flash. This is the fourth time the New Hollands have warned us of snakes near the house, the only birds that do with their loud alarm calls, and marking the spot. Mount Pleasant S.A.
