Collaboration with CLiPiCs This is my EKG with my sons names morphed into my heart rhythm / Craig is 16, he is my boy genius / Clay is 14, everyone calls him smiley / They are my reason for being… My Sons / My Life / My Love / My Heart / My Rhythm / My Life Rhythm / My Heart Rhythm / My Heart Beat / My Reason For Living This all started out in a conversation with CLiPiCs (Kriss), / I said… If I were ever to get a tattoo, this is what I would want it to be… / He said… I think I can do that… Now, Kriss knows that my OCD can make it a little annoying to work on projects with me… This looks simple to me- someone who has very little experience with PhotoShop. However, he told me he worked probably a total of 8 hours on it, off and on, over several days. He explained it takes time to pick put the fonts, get the correct color, blend them into the lines evenly, position them correctly, layer them, tweak them, and deal with what he called the “fiddly bits”. / Of course it didn’t help that I kept giving him wrong instructions on what I wanted. I told my Nurse that I needed to do an EKG on myself. She eyed me suspiciously and with a little concern, but then I explained it was an art thing and she pushed me in a room and told me to take off my shirt and bra, she would be right back with the machine. I was a little thankful my regular nurse was on vacation because she would have delighted in putting those EKG leads in ice or something before putting them on my bare chest. So I got my 12 lead EKG, I scanned it and emailed it to Kriss. / Remember he is in London and I am in the United States. So over the computer we viewed it and I explained what I wanted done. Or so I thought. I asked him to use lead II, but I forgot there are two lead II’s on a 12 lead EKG. / / So he worked on it over several days, did a beautiful job and sent it to me. / My response- / ummmmmm, Kriss, I meant the other lead II… / His response- / fmekwfalsfja’sdfndslfnsll which he said was his head banging on the keyboard So he worked on it again, did a beautiful job and sent it to me. / My response- / ummmmm, Kriss, do you think you can make the writing more cursive or script? / His response- / fmawklrejewfndsn’sdfdk which he said was his head banging on the keyboard So he worked on it again, did a beautiful job and sent it to me. / My response- / ummmmm, Kriss, do you think you can make the writing the same size as the EKG spikes? / His response- / fsmk’lsdfhgodf’sdfk’s which by now I am starting to think is his polite way of cursing, I notice it always starts with an f… So he worked on it again, and this time before sending it to me, he mailed me questions, asking could he crop it some, did I need all the patient info at the top, or did I need all 12 leads? / My response- / Oh…ummm. … all I need is the lead II at the bottom, none of the other stuff needs to be there… / His response- / WOMAN! But I have to say I LOVE the outcome. It is exactly what I envisioned. He did a beautiful job and now I want it as a tattoo. / Thank you Kriss!!!! BTW, I showed this to my sons last night. / The boy genius, Craig, cut his eyes over to his little brother and said “Mom- you should make the heart beat speed up after my name, and then flatline after Clays name!” / The last thing I heard, besides my laughing, was the raucous sound of Clay chasing Craig up the stairs… July 8, 2009
Characterized by a steely blue-black exoskeleton, this roach has colonized every place on Earth where humans live, come, and go. A lot of my fascination with insects revolves around the structure and reflectivity of insect wings and exoskeletons. This illustration was originally published in BackHome Magazine, 1993.
This group is dedicated to the tattoo artist and tattoo designer. Here, all submissions will be centered around one main subject, TATTOOS!!!!!! This group will allow any artist on RB to proudly display their tattoos they have done and any artwork they do that focuses on on a tattoo inspired theme.
This group will also not allow the random uploading of the “bad” tattoos you received on spring break!!!!!! THIS GROUP’S ULTIMATE FOCUS IS TO PROMOTE AND ENHANCE TATTOOING AS A LEGITIMATE ARTFORM!!!!
Media wise, we love oils, watercolor, acrylics, marker, photography ( tattooed people or models only ). etc.
Any media will do as long as it is done with tattoos in mind. However, clothing designs don’t necessarily always fit in our parameters, and are accepted on a piece by piece basis.
Any type of tattoo: traditional, neo-traditional, script and lettering, new skool, blk and grey, color, horror, cute, creepy, etc are all good to go!!!!
So if you’re a tattoo artist, or you do tattoo inspired artwork, join and promote your trade and your love of tattoos!!!!
