A silent tree with all leaves shed, seems like waiting for salvation or final moments
Dawn at Fish River Canyon, Namibia Harsh rays of the dawning sun contrasting heavily on the landscape, turning it into a silhouette. This photo has not been enhanced, changed or edited in any way. Featured in The Beginners Corner / Featured in Stillness Speaks Canon SX100IS MCN: CA0D7-0FFE1-53699
Caught ‘up the sware’ (a local viewpoint) at dawn yesterday ( 23/9/08) as the sun rose over the tweed valley just outside Peebles, scottish borders. An especially heartwarming sight after the wet grey summer we’ve had … and it’s straight from my Nikon 4800 coolpix compact camera, untouched. ;))) See also mist in the valley taken at the same time ! and also front row seat cheers all / ding / :))
I know this is supposed to be the season of joy and cheer, but I can’t help to feel very much like this lone tree on a cold and foggy winter morning. Not even the happy chirp of a bird is breaking the eerie quiet. But soon this season will pass, and life begins anew. My art with 1000+ views
Quite an old shot of a sycamore tree taken on a misty winter morning. Scanned transparency from Kodak E100vs film. / Mamiya 645 80mm f2.8
Due to the amazing amount of comments I have had from Solitude I thought I’d share this shot. I couldn’t help myself, had to walk up to the tree, hence the footprints in the virgin snow, although retracing my footprints to take the photograph was very difficult. This shot was taken in St Johann, Austria. Canon 5D, 24-70mm at 70mm, f/11, 1/400 sec, ISO 200. No filters used. A massive amount of dust and hair removed in photoshop. This shot is also available from a photobook collection called Rural Mementos by redtree.me © Copyright 2009 David Reid – redtree.me – All rights reserved.
One of the star pickets marking the graves of unknown Australian soldiers at Templeton 2 cemetery about half way along the Kokoda Track, Papua New Guinea. This one at the end of the middle row happened to have a red Poppy on it for remembrance. Actually, this was made by a snowmobile being driven across the field ;) This photo is from the village Västersel where I grew up. It’s situated in north Sweden 30 km outside the town Örnsköldsvik, about 500 km north of Stockholm. Even though it’s about 20 years since I moved “south”, this place is always home. And yeah, I love the snow. Without it, like here in Göteborg, it’s more of a constant grey, rainy cold autumn… Camera: Casio Exilim EX-Z700, 7,2 mega-pixel and a 3x optical zoom. This is a intersection of carriage roads in Acadia National Park, just up from Jordan Pond…the one to the left goes to the amphitheater, and around the mountain…the one to the right continues around the lake…these ‘carriage roads’ were built by the Rockefellers when they owned Mt. Taken directly from the mouth of Eckhart Tolle, This Group is exactly what it sounds like…
How does stillness speak to you?
What brings you great joy and peace?
This Group is for reflection and peace, and the art that brings us there.
In life, there is so much beauty and joy, this Group is a connection between the two.
May’s Feature:
For members who join after the notice was sent out:
Each month we, as a group come together to choose a monthly feature :)
The process is pretty simple.
Each month I will start a competition entitled “Month” feature voting.
You will have the opportunity to add an image based on the theme. The most voted on image will be posted for that month.
I’m hoping this will inspire our best work and the interaction of eachother so we can all be proud of our monthly feature.
Many Blessings
Beth
