Watercolor 20×14 on 140 lb CP paper
12×21 in.original watercolor on 100% cotton Cotman 300lb. watercolor paper paper / This work is inspired by the Pomagranate a bountiful anti-toxic fruit found in most climates and especially Greece, where there are many variaties including red, yellow and an especially beautiful one that is magenta. A very popular fruit for it’s health improving abilities. In Greece it is also a traditional Christmas fruit. On the morning of the New Year it is a tradition to smash the fruit by throwing it down..the number of seeds that spill out are a symbol of the prosperity for the coming year. It is also used to decorate for the holidays and it’s colorful fruit used in salads, sweets and meat dishes to add color and flavor.

Pastel on Canson paper (brown) – 80cm x 60cm This dates back several years (I’m thinking about 20) and was sold ages ago. It was the first still life I ever did with pastel. The books are from a set of Dickens which belonged to my mother-in-law and I bought the ‘Venus’ statue at a market! I set them up with the apples and the basket and switched a spotlight on. All roses have meaning red=love, a special wish will be granted. “Sterling Silver” has soft lavender flowers and fragrant scent. The “Sterling Silver” is recommended as a greenhouse rose. It has a lack of cold hardiness, lack of vigor, stinginess with bloom production, and susceptibility to the usual diseases that make this rose a weak candidate for the garden. Other meanings of roses: Rose (Bridal) Happy Love Rose (Dark Crimson) Mourning Rose (Hibiscus) Delicate Beauty Rose (Leaf) You May Hope Rose (Pink) Perfect Happiness, Please Believe Me Rose (Red) Love, I Love You Rose (Tea) I’ll Remember Always Rose (Thornless) Love At First Sight Rose (White and Red Mixed) Unity, Flower Emblem of England Rose (White) Innocence and Purity, I Am Worthy of You, You’re Heavenly, Secrecy and Silence Rose (White Dried) Death Is Preferable To Loss of Virtue Rose (Yellow) Decrease of Love, Jealousy, Try To Care Rosebud Beauty and Youth, a Heart Innocent of Love Rosebud (Moss) Confessions of Love Rosebud (Red) Pure and Lovely Rosebud (White) Girlhood Rosemary Remembrance Roses (Bouquet of Mature Blooms) Gratitude Roses (Single Full Bloom) I Love You, I Still Love You
