(oil on Linen)[120×800cm)(©2009)THE QUEEN OF HEARTS (credit eyeworks) / … a daring and beautiful widow, who is upset with her fellow countrymen for being unwilling to engage their foreign conquerors. She goes with her loyal maid to the camp of the enemy general, to whom she slowly ingratiates herself, promising him information on the game. Gaining his trust, she is allowed access to his tent one night as he lies awaiting for her undivided attention. She decapitates him, then takes his head back to her fearful countrymen. The people, having lost their leader, disperse, and earth is saved. Though she is courted by many, she remains unmarried for the rest of her life. / KRISTIAN Brief Description of Queen of Hearts Emma in “queen of hearts” is a seriously beautiful model. It is her career choice, and she’s not a ‘flake’ half hearted model or ‘fake’ professional model as she puts it. My experience with painting her was reflected in this ‘heart’ very much so. I felt the minute i decided to make painting my career, my whole life changed ever since. Painting the Queen of Hearts as i called it, was like depicting my self. Thats it. Theres no denying that we are all here to create who we are rather than find ones self. Im not going to pretend that im winging about something controversial, or just trying to be innovative, or flattering the opposite sex. This painting is one of the most important ones in my fleet now, simply because it was created in the present moment with integrity, strength and courage, and they are the real beauties, and at that the hard to find ones. I get up every morning in pain from arthritis at only age 29, and the beauty surpasses all that.
K.T.Mumford – HollyLoveDay(credit-NinaPak)(oil on Linen)[106×144cm)(©13.04.2009) An excerpt from a letter to Nina, Kristians inspiration for this painting / “Hi nina / / … as my poppa was dying recently, i decided to whipp up another painting based on your imagery. there was a shot of hope love day, in a body of water, leaning back, with daisies in her hair. i was so breath taken by this picture, i just had to do something with it. / …as i painted it, not to my knowledge, my mum was cutting daisys off a daisy bush at my grandparents house. We were channeling, and somehow you and the model were involved. My Mum now thinks the model is an angel, sent down, as a sign that Poppa is resting now.” / / This painting was a finalist in the famous australian exhibition Hans Hysen Prize, for Landscape

When we were kids, my brother had a poster listing Murphy’s Laws. Things like, “Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” / My favourite amongst them was, “A Smith & Wesson beats four aces.” / Hence this image. / And for the purists and sticklers for detail out there, yes I am aware I have used a Derringer in the shot. I thought it looked better. Models: Andy Gii as the crazed killer and my friend Lindsay as the victim. (Says a lot about our relationship really)
