First, a big thanks to the Hosts of Solo Exhibition, Frannie and Maxy for all their time and effort into getting the artists here all organised (or looking like we’re organised, anyway!). I have been obsessed with photography now for around 4 1/2 years. Obsessed is definitely the word, as I can’t imagine a day going by where I don’t either think about taking a photo, or turn on Red Bubble, or edit some photos or actually take some! I don’t have any official qualifications, but self taught doesn’t sound right either. Most of the things I have learnt, have come from other artists here on the RB site. Everyone is so friendly and helpful that you can’t help but be on a continual learning curve. I live in the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne, Australia, which probably helps to explain why I am co-host of the Dandenong Ranges Group. I have been married for 28 years to one of the best Photographic Assistants I know (except when he wants to give advice or take some photos himself), but he carries the camera bags really well – especially when we are walking around Florence in -10 degree winter weather! Actually he didn’t do that very well – he insisted on going into a cafe and thawing out in front of the fire while I walked up the hill by myself! But normally he’s quite good. I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to travel every couple of years, usually to Europe, so you will see quite a few shots of the wonderful towns and cobbled streets and old buildings that I have fallen in love with. I have three grown children and one gorgeous granddaughter, who you may have noticed in my gallery. Quite a little poser that one! I suppose you could say that I am still working out my photo “style”. I seem to love everything. From landscapes, country shots, seascapes, portraits, architecture and digital art. So you’ll see quite a versatility in my work. I have tried to show some of this versatility in the shots here today, but picking twelve was quite a challenge, so please visit my gallery and have a look around. Moodiness, seems to be a word that is used a lot when people are describing my work. So I hope that I can convey what I am feeling when I am taking the shot, or what is around me at the time. Misty trees is another favourite of mine. So enjoy the journey with me over the next month or so, and thanks again for visiting. |

This shot was taken at the Lavendar Farm in Lower Crackpot, Tasmania on a very bright sunny day. I adjusted the saturation, and overlayed with a couple of textures to give a more provincial and vintage look. “Just Before Harvest ":http://www.redbubble.com/people/suse/art/43506... by Sue Wickham |

This photograph is in the beautiful village of St Emilion in France. We nearly always travel to Europe at the end of Winter/early Spring, and the light is so beautiful this time of year. The Lane by Sue Wicknam |

Subservient is one of my most popular pieces on RB. I was driving around close to the Melbourne Airport waiting to pick up some visitors and I was a bit early, and I stumbled upon this wonderful tree in a paddock all by itself. After some PP work, I felt like I had it just right. Subservient by Sue Wickham |

A favourite of mine. She was covered in pigeons in St Marks Square, Venice on a winters morning. There were dozens of people around her, but she was oblivious to everything. Another one treated with textured overlays and colour adjustments. So Gently by Sue Wickham |

This is a recent shot, taken in Wynyard, Tasmania where I grew up. Enhanced the colour to bring out the sunrise, and sharpened. No textures or overlays this time! Jetty Sunrise by Sue Wickham |

Home is a very special shot, it is of some of my family walking along the beach in Wynyard, Tasmania with Table Cape in the background. The song “Feels Like Home” is played with a slideshow of this image and makes me cry every time. Home by Sue Wickham |

Didn’t think it would take me long did you? This is Eliza, our gorgeous granddaughter. She’s a little older than this now though – she’s just turned 1. Vintage Angel by Sue Wickham |

Antiquities is one of the first photos that was selected for an exhibition, so is another favourite of mine. Again, a wonderful facade we found in Nimes, France. Antiquites by Sue Wickham |

These ones were all taken near our home in Mount Dandenong, Victoria. Different seasons, different looks, but one the most beautiful places on the planet. |

Love love love your exhibit. While I moved this below your image showcase, I can move it again. In fact, Sue, you might want to EDIT the comment up there to me, and put an image in there instead. Stunning, exceptional photography, Sue. |
