ART NEWS

  1. Aussie, Sarah Moore (no relation, that I know of), is leading the launch of Red Door Creative, opening somewhere in Australia, as this issue goes to press. Post-launch, the creative will hold workshops, initially in photography, to encourage the arts in the area. If you know any Red Bubblers on the list, please extend a warm invitation to them to join the Solo Exhibition group and share their talent.
  1. New Solo member, Helene Ruiz, is curating an exhibit of women artists strongly influenced by music, this month through September 25th. The show, titled “Hard Hearts”, is at the Williamsburg Music Center on 367 Bedford Street, in Brooklyn, New York. Ruiz is the founder of THE URBAN INDIVIDUALISTS artists collective.

Montage of part of the show Pictured, Helene Ruiz works: a chained heart, From My Heart (top left, on off light wall); THE DISCONNECTION PROCESS, Right there!!......on the line…..., THE CAGE, with heart in hand (center brick wall, top to bottom, left to right); A Clown’s Heart, Topsy Turvy (top right, Topsy Turvy mostly hidden behind girl); Artists friends and Helene Ruiz in red, looking for her cell phone in that humongous purse. (bottom left, hear the cell phone ringing?); the gathering and space (right, a chained heart is on the back, center wall).

Helene has a big fan in Gerry Eastman, jazz artist and founder of the Williamsburg Music Center. If you’re like me, you get a thrill from recognizing some of Ruiz’s own surrealistic paintings on display. You can keep up with news, pictures, and videos of the show at Helene’s Red Bubble page.

  1. Jill Gaebel is showing at the Corner Vise Art Gallery on 110 South Main Street in Zionsville, Indiana all this week. If you’re in the area, drop by for her reception today, (Friday, July 24th) between 5-7 p.m. This is a first-show for Jill. Congratulations!

Montage of part of the show
  1. Exquisite Corpse. Busy these days, Helene Ruiz is also accepting participants who will grab a partner to collaborate on an “Exquisite Corpse” artwork. Partners have to use the same medium. Pencil/pencil, Digital/digital, etc. Should be fun. I’ve signed up with Isa Rodriguez we’re going digital. Contact Helene by bmail for more details; and tell her you heard about “EC” in Frannie’s Inside Solo magazine. You may get a prize! :)
  1. Buyer’s Booth. Caught the image below in the Buyer’s Booth and immediately recognized it as a Mel Davies canvas. Congratulations to Solo member, Mel, for selling Colour Me Softly.

Oh! And here’s MoonSpiral modeling Tree Nymph Tee bought from her co-star at The Devine Feminine, Barbara Glatzeder. Both Barbara and Tammy are members of Solo.

Here you see another Solo member, AnitaInverarity’s, Blood Red Alice Tee on Barbara Glatzeder. And would you look at Barbara’s creative treatment of her modeling shot?

Please be sure and submit your news to the Inside Solo Submissions topic. I want to promote you and share in your joyful successes!

SOLO EXHIBITIONS THIS WEEKEND AND UPCOMING WEEK

  1. Rajeev Kashyap – Solo Exhibition. Starts today! Reception Sunday
  1. Joel Lambeth – Solo Exhibition. July 27- 30, 2009 Monday – Thursday. Artist reception 28th, Tuesday
  1. Lior Goldenberg – Solo Exhibition. July 31- Aug 2, 2009 Friday – Sunday. Artist reception Aug. 2nd, Sunday

The first week in August we will feature the paintings of Karön Melillo d’Vega, followed by the fine digital artistry of Helene Kippert.

Rajeev Kashyap. To the discerning eye, there is nothing quite so compelling as great photography of the architecture, landscape, people, and culture of a foreign land.

If you coveted the dazzling yellow-backed covers and picture-articles of National Geographic Magazine, then you will probably love looking at India, its famous Taj Mahal, and beautiful people through the lens of Rajeev Kashyap.

“Solo Exhibition” is featuring twelve photographic works of Rajeev Kashyap this Friday – Sunday, July 24th – 26th in the main gallery.

A reception will be held for the Artist in the forum area for two hours on Sunday and all are warmly invited to attend.

Joel Lambeth. The collages of Australian artist, Joel Lambeth, grab you by the eyeballs and make you look. There’s something you recognize there. Could be the words, or the face, or the title, or the feeling. Something familiar, hip, today, yet reaching back through yesterdays. Always dramatic, Joel Lambeth’s black, red, and white works are stars in their own right and in their own galaxy. Joel is a brilliant star in the art world, whom you won’t want to miss.

See Lambeth’s solo exhibit in the feature gallery next week, Monday – Thursday, July 27 – 30th. Meet him on Tuesday and chat over drinks and goodies at his reception.

More on our upcoming solo artists in the next issue of Inside Solo.

IMAGES AND ARTISTS OF NOTE

  1. I don’t know if you caught Anita’s recent upload of Jimi Hendrix; but I think it’s amazing! If you’re like me and a music fan of that era, and of Hendrix’s Purple Haze and other greats…well, gaze on the love and flower power right here:

  1. How about this new artist to Red Bubble, Suds Chetty, from Sydney. I’m going to tease you with just one of his works, today, but look to see more of him, here.

    Restless Spirit by Suds Chetty
  1. Here is a dazzling work from navybrat, picturing him and his beloved Grace in the garden of Eden. While Jotham is likely to be one of the finest and most popular digital artists on Red Bubble, I believe that he may have outdone himself with this delicate, subtle, and deeply personal work of art.

Your prayers and well wishes for Jotham and Grace are requested, as she starts treatments for breast cancer, now.

MINI-FEATURES

  1. Valzart. Speaking of prayers, religious art can tend to be overlooked, and therefore not encouraged. Valzart, from Spain, is one of the most featured artists on Red Bubble, which speaks to her versatility. But for those appreciators of religious art, I present these four overtly religious works, representing Val’s passion and faith. Valzart portfolio

  1. Barbara Manis hangs out in lovely places like Sedona, Arizona, and knows how to give you her best shot. I wanted to feature some of Barbara’s work in the iconic landscape of the American West. Barbara’s portfolio

Bell Rock, Mountain Light at Dusk, Airport Loop Trail, and Red Rock State Park

  1. Killerbunny1984, from Canada, has a great eye for portrait photography; so good, that I bet she’s known for it. Take a stroll around her portfolio to see her passion in evidence. Here’s a small taste of her other work. killerbunny1984 portfolio.
