Solo’s 20th Juried Invitational Exhibition of Visual Arts

Dear Esteemed Nominees, Solo Exhibition Members, and Guests,

Happy Earth Day!

We’re officially open! Monday, April 22, 2013, Solo Exhibition presents the 20th Juried Invitational Art Exhibition, celebrating ninety-two (92) artists, representing over twenty countries, exhibiting 102 artworks and photographs, in its publicly accessible member space on RedBubble, and later this week on its dot.com.

Nominated works. All works in the show are nominated works, invited after a selection process by a special group of RedBubble Hosts, whose art and photography was recently showcased in Solo Exhibition-sponsored Host Hullabaloo 2013.

SoJie Annex. Some works which were nominated, but did not enter in time for judging, will be shown in the SoJie 20 Annex, on page 5, following the main entries. We treat these works with the same honor and respect as those which made it in time for our jury’s consideration.

Placement Awards

First through Third places in the Traditional Art, Digital Art, and Photographic Art categories, will be awarded, based on the total of ALL Judges’ scores. The artwork with the highest score, over all categories, will be awarded “Best in Show”, besides a category first place. Honors awards are give to all non-placing works which are in the top scoring tier over all categories and works in the show. Judges will also make special merit awards.

How it’s done. Scoring is done individually by each judge, from within a special scoring application created by the Founder, which allows the judges to contemplate each full size work while scoring it. However, the process of tallying and calculating placement and honors awards is automated, and entails no human intervention. Not even the judges can be sure of the outcome, until the Awards Day ceremony.

Awards Day will be in Friday, April 26, 6 PM (New York, U.S. time), late night in Europe, and morning the next day in Australia. See the World Clock below. The interactive awards ceremony is held in the virtual exhibition space on RedBubble, with a party afterwards, for all who are awake! Virtual drink and no-calorie goodies to celebrate a great show. The evening time is a trial and departure from our usual “noon” Eastern U.S., the time at which we have consistently held these awards, since 2010.

Announcements

Look out for our workshop announcements in messages, Works of the Day features, and Solo Exhibitions for 2013 season.

Congratulations to all! And thank you for coming to the exhibition and supporting these wonderful artists from all over the globe.

Your comments on the art are welcome. Comments begin following the exhibits; on page 6.

Respectfully,

F.A. Moore, Solo Founder and host

Elizabeth Bravo, Solo Graphics Coordinator

We Ascend
by Craig Hitchens – Spiritual Digital Art

Digital Art

Software: Apophysis 7X and Paint.Net. Compiled from multiple fractals and images of my own creation.

From out of the depths of ignorance and suffering we ascend. The more you become still and live your life from stillness, compassion, peace and awareness the more you become aware of the total fabrication of our society and it’s masters. They peddle the wares of suffering to you daily. But that is ok. You are aware now, you can choose differently, you can ascend to a higher state of awareness and being. The further inside you look, the more peaceful and clear it all becomes and higher you ascend. Namaste :)
