Solo’s 16th Juried Invitational Exhibition of Visual Arts

Dear Esteemed Nominees, Solo Exhibition Members, and Guests,

Monday, June 25th, with the opening of the 16th Juried Invitational Art Exhibition, presented by the Solo Exhibition group of RedBubble, we celebrate seventy-four (74) artists, representing fourteen (14) countries, and exhibiting one-hundred and twenty-five (125) photographs and artworks along the theme of “Landscape and Light”. The show highlights light in the landscape,through photographic, digital, and traditional fine art works from the esteemed Solo community.

Solo hosts invited select works for exhibition along the theme. Twenty-three of the exhibits are works selected from a companion Landscape and Light workshop, where traditional and digital artists took inspiration and reference from a catalog of fine photographs along the theme of the show. These reference works are noted in the exhibition, by a linked thumbnail image, crediting the originator. Two photographs created during the workshop are also featured in the exhibition.

Out of the 125 entries in the juried exhibition, there are 55 Traditional artworks, 50 Photographic works, and 18 Digital artworks, from some 74 artists. Exhibitors have from 1 to 3 works in the show.

Judges will award 1st – 3rd places in the Traditional Art, Digital Art, and Photographic Art categories. The artwork with the highest score, over all categories, will be awarded “Best in Show”, besides a category first place. Judges will also make special merit awards.

The show runs from June 25th through July 8th, 2012. Awards Day is Tues, July 3rd, starting at 10 AM, New York time (Midnight Tues/Wed. Melbourne) (see world clock link, below).

Artists who participated in the optional workshop were encouraged to discuss how they produced their artwork, and show their work in progress. This area will continue to build as more of the artists document their artistic journey.

Each month of the Solo season, all of the members of the Solo Exhibition group have the opportunity for one or more of their works to be selected for a “SoJie” (Solo’s Juried Invitational Exhibition). To qualify, a member has to have joined the group at least in the calendar month prior to the current show. If you would like to be considered for next month’s show, which will focus on portraits, join now!
