SoJie 15 workshop - For the Birds (locked)

F.A. Moore F.A. Moore 36791 posts

Welcome to the SoJie 15 workshop space.

The goal of the SoJie 15 Exhibition is to celebrate birds, their beauty, and their nature.

We selected some works for the exhibition already, based upon the above-stated goals.
A number of those works will not be in the catalog, as they are paintings, which we believed
the artist would not want translated into another painting. But they will be in the exhibition
at the end of May!

The workshop has the goal of inspiring and challenging Solo artists to produce works that
might also qualify for this exhibition or another, here, or even outside of RedBubble. We hope
these works will be exhibition class, anywhere in the world.

Certain works were selected specifically for the Workshop Catalog, in order for participants
to translate. They were invited to the catalog because they embody the goals of the exhibition
and workshop.

Please only post to the catalog those images for which you received a letter inviting you to do so,
and after reading and accepting the terms for inclusion, below.

By participating in the workshop you are agreeing to the Terms, below listed, for Translator
(if/when acting in that role) and/or for Catalog Entries (if this applies).

Terms of Agreement
and Rules of Engagement

TERMS FOR CATALOG ENTRIES.

Catalog Entries are by Invitation only. Catalog entries will NOT be featured in the Exhibition,
unless nominated separately, and apart from this workshop.

Should the translation of your work, through this workshop, ultimately make it into the exhibition,
a linked thumbnail image of your cataloged work will be shown in the description on Solo’s RedBubble
forum pages, serving as our Exhibition space.

(Obviously, if your work was ALSO nominated to the exhibition, then your full size work will be
in the exhibition!)

Exhibitions at the web site, solo-exhibition.com, do not have description areas, only titles. But the
images do link back to the translator’s artwork page, where they are required to post a small thumbnail
link back to your image.

You agree to allow Solo Exhibition and its hosts and supporters to promote your catalog entry, in
association with this workshop and the SoJie 15 exhibition.

You agree to respond within 48 hours or sooner to all queries from Solo Workshop participants, who
request to translate your work.

You agree that the number of translations of your work may be limited at the sole determination
of the workshop hosts. If you get 8 requests for translation, for example, you should speak to a host.

You agree to keep up with updates during the workshop, and to work with your translator as they require,
providing them with higher resolution images if they request such.

You agree to enter into a written agreement with your translator, so as to protect your copyright for the original
cataloged work, and to protect their copyright for their own original translation. The agreement template will be
posted here.
Solo is not a party to your agreement.

You agree that there will be no fee charged to the workshop translator of your work.

You agree to hold Solo Exhibition harmless and indemnify Solo hosts for any mishaps, misunderstandings,
or misappropriations that result from this workshop or the appearance of your work in the catalog, exhibition,
workshop, journals, or advertising space.

TERMS FOR TRANSLATORS.

Participation in the workshop is open to all Solo members, including new members. This workshop
will focus on traditional visual mediums only, which include but may not be limited to:
pastel,
pencil/color pencil
charcoal
watercolor
tempera
acrylic
oil
paper collage
mixed media (EXCEPT digital)
sculpture: metal, clay, paper, mixed

(Ask if your preferred medium is not listed.)

Digital artists and photographers are welcome to participate, with the understanding that the
workshop will focus on the mediums listed above. In all likelihood, because of our existing
nominees for SoJie 15, further works selected for the exhibition, from this workshop, will be
in those mediums listed.

Adjustments to balance your in-camera shot, in order to closely match your original
artwork, are allowed and encouraged.

Any other digital additions or adjustments to the work must be listed. Once a work includes digital
manipulation or additions, it is considered in the Digital category for the purposes of SoJie’s, as
it currently stands. If you know your work will contain digital elements, additions, or manipulations,
please write in “Digital medium”, or “Digital Mixed Media” in the contract with your ORIGINATOR.
Again, understand that this will disqualify the work for SoJie 15, but not necessarily for other SoJie’s,
where we typically have a robust Digital category.

You agree to add a linked thumbnail image of the cataloged work, which inspired your translation,
to your main image page and to the description of any work that makes it into the SoJie 15 exhibition.

You agree to allow Solo Exhibition and its hosts and supporters to promote your translated work, in
association with this workshop and/or the SoJie 15 exhibition.

You agree to make only one translation request during a 24 hour period.

You agree to seek out and then perform only one translation at a time. If it is determined that a participant
lined up a translation for the future, before finishing the one committed to, both works will be excluded from
consideration for exhibition. No exceptions.
Read this again and ask if you are unclear.

You agree to keep up with updates posted here by Solo hosts and workshop helpers.

You agree to be gentile to fellow participants of the workshop, even when (especially when) they do something
with which you disagree, including their approach to art.
The hosts will respond accordingly to any inappropriate
approach, or misunderstandings to approach of the art.

You agree to enter into a written agreement with your originator, so as to protect their copyright for the original
cataloged work, and to protect your own original translation with your copyright. The agreement template will be
posted here.
Solo is not a party to your agreement.

You agree to hold Solo Exhibition harmless and indemnify Solo hosts for any mishaps, misunderstandings,
or misappropriations that result from this workshop or the appearance of your work in the catalog, exhibition,
workshop, journals, or advertising space.

You agree, unless explicitly notifying the hosts, in writing, in private bmail, that Solo may promote your translation
on our Facebook page or Twitter account during the workshop and/or subsequent exhibition, and understand that
these posts may be “retweeted” or “liked” by followers, outside of Solo’s control.

You understand that participation in the workshop may not result in a nomination for SoJie 15. This will not
preclude your work from being nominated for future exhibitions, though.

Extra Credit: The workshop is about growth. The challenger is you. The challenged is you. But please also consider others,
and drop an occasional note of encouragement, here, even if someone’s art is not up to your personal standards
or level of achievement. To those to whom many gifts are given, much is demanded.
