Solo’s Juried Invitational Exhibition of Visual Art

banner created by Elizabeth Bravo, Graphics Coordinator, Solo Exhibition
Solo’s 12th Juried Invitational Exhibition features fine photographs and their re-interpretation
in traditional mediums of oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, pencil, and mixed-media.
The collaborators were active in a workshop setting for 4 weeks. During that time, the following events took place:
- Photographers submitted photographs, which they themselves selected, for the show.
- Photographs were qualified and approved.
- Artists contacted Photographers with a request to translate their work.
- Only one translation per photograph, meant that some Photographers had to make a choice.
- Artists and Photographers entered into explicit written agreement about terms of use of the resource, and copyrights, and credits.
- Artists interpreted/translated the work in their own style, and through their own eyes and experience.
- Artists posted 2 or more works in progress, discussing the stage in which they were then working.
- Artists posted final works.
An ordered summary of documented works in progress and completions was posted to Solo Exhibition’s Facebook page, as the workshop progressed. In addition a publicly accessible journal was updated daily with official announcements of agreements between photographers and artists, plus the latests stats (numbers) of interest.
Here, we at last arrive at the doorstep of SoJie 12, the exhibition hall, itself. SoJie 12 is the golden carrot, the goal of the SoJie 12 workshop. The journey to get here is an indescribable experience. Well… almost indescribable.
