Photographic artist, Kathie Nichols has an eye for turning “accidental ugliness” into eye-stopping abstract art.
An Australian, residing on the Gold Coast, Kathie takes advantage of the macro potential of scrap metal yards,
shipping containers, boats in dry dock, leaves, and bark.
Into the Sea by Kathie Nichols | Nichols has painted an abstract based on a Bark Macro, Karalee Bark Kathy says that her photographs are quite often mistaken for landscapes, seascapes or abstract paintings. [Into the Sea is a] macro photo taken from the bark of a Eucalyptus tree. Canon S3IS Focal length 6-20mm. f/5.6, exp 1/20 Minimum contrast and white balance. That wonderful time of the day late in the afternoon when the light throws such beautiful blue tones in the shadows. |
