Firewood for tonight by flyingdocphotos. / Village woman from Bromo, East Java Indonesia. This image was taken in a small village on the outskirts of the Bromo caldera volcanic region of eastern Java, Indonesia. I was playing around with my 100mm macro lens, capturing some spider pictures then this lady appeared down the trail, emerging from the fog. I stood at the side of the road, smilied and raised my camera as she drew close. As she saw me, she smiled, nodded back, posed and I took a snap. Then (I think she thought I was going to take only one photo) she started walking along again, focusing on the uphill path in front of her – and that’s when I clicked my shutter again, capturing this image.

This is a shot that I took after a rain storm. I was in town and saw this lovely puddle with the blue sky and the the lovely rich red brick with the morning light bringing it to life. Just as I was about to take the shot this person just came in and finished the shot perfectly. It was an unexpected “cherry on top” thing. I am of two minds with this shot as to have it as natural or turned upside down like this one I have uploaded. Any comments as to which you think would be great. HP PhotoSmart C850 bridge camera, f/3.5, shutter 1/237, ISO 100 / Post Processing: done in Photoshop CS – only a slight increase in contrast and removal of some shadowing. That’s it.
...and THIS is why i don’t get anything finished!!!! i’m in the middle of grouting/sealing the tiles in the bathroom.. and put some rubbish out in the bin… happened to walk past my 6’ ginormous potted tomato plant growing like something out of Day of the Triffids…and spied this little guy feasting on a tiny little new tomato (no bigger than a pea)!!!! ....and ‘faint’ and ‘gasp’ ... i manually focused!!!! Camera Specs / Nikon D70 (Duds) / Focal Length 125.0mm / Exposure 1/200 / Aperture f/5.6 AF Zoom-Nikkor Lens / ED 28-200mm / f/3.5-5.6G IF / plus x3 Close Up filters / a chair to stand on in the driveway / ...and patience ++ in the hot sun, waiting for the proverbial worm to turn (into the tomato) – despite prompting with the tip of my nail! / My CRITTERS Calendar – now 2010! /
I got this panning shot with some luck. This is a 400 meter race which is over almost before it starts.

Now, here is a good story….I was out photographing some old buildings on a rustic Norwegian farm one sunny spring morning and my eye caught these old wool long johns flying in the wind on the clothesline. I stopped in my tracks…fascinated by the sight. All I could think of was how they looked like they were dancing with joy – happy to finally be set free out in the fresh spring air. It took me a lot of convincing to talk the elderly farm wife into letting me take this shot. She was horrified at the thought, but graciously accepted my creative eccentricity in the end, shaking her head and mumbling all the while. .....They look like they are on a backdrop, but that is the blue sky…..really!
