Topic: Group News / Holidays - *Group Closed from 22/12/11 - 03/01/12* Well, its been a very busy year and time that your hosts take a well needed break from the daily rituals of moderating this wonderful group. The group will be closed for submissions from the 22nd December 2011 to 3rd January 2011, so we call get out there and spend time with our families and hopefully get some great shots. We would like to wish you and your families a joyous and peaceful Christams and we look forward to moderating again in 2012. Mark & Jim |

Topic: Group News / Group Rules - 1 per 24 hours Just a reminder that this group accepts 1 image per day only. There are a handful of members who consistently add 2-3 per day. I ’m sure you know who you are. Any continual breaking of this rule will result in removal from the group. |

Topic: Group News / New Host …and thank you too Mel, your endeavor to make it the “best” was in my eyes a success. Jim, I wish you well, the group is in the hands of a well credentialed “seascaper” :) Thanks also to Stu and Sue too, for all the input, advice and laughs along the way. |

Topic: Group News / Up for grabs The hosts of this group are worn out, and ready to hand over the reins, if anyone is interested. I started the group with the idea that we could show the best seascapes, and we’ve also tried to keep the pages of art to less than one hundred, in an attempt to keep it easier to find works…needless to say it’s a heavy responsibility…horizontal horizons and decent exposures can be quite hard to come by, it seems! Anyway, if anyone is interested in taking it on, leave a message here, or bmail me, and we’ll talk. |

Topic: Group News / A small reminder of the group rules…. Feel free to join and share your absolute best seascapes. Sea or ocean should take up the majority of the image. Birds, fish, and boats should NOT be the focal point…. If your image has been rejected, please don’t upload it again. The hosts reserve the right to remove people who continually upload previously rejected images. |

Topic: Group News / Limit of 2 works per member I think the group is at the stage where we, the members, should be taking control of what we post. Since the name of the group is all the BEST seascapes, I’d like you all to think more carefully about what you submit, and so to that end, the art limit is now 2 per person. By trying to keep the total pages of art at 75, it also means that those who might be looking for beach or sea scenes will not have to deal with thousands upon thousands of images. If you don’t know what you’ve uploaded, then the option is to leave the group, and rejoin, that will remove your images, and give you two more slots in return. If we want the work to be the BEST, we have to work for it, yes? |

Topic: Group News / Cleaning out the group We’re going to do a bulk delete of all members and work this weekend, and therefore no uploads will be available for the next few days. The size of the group is completely unmanageable, and we’re being hit with additions to the group that do not constitute seascapes. When I started the group the guidelines were a little elastic, since there weren’t many other groups here, but now that there’s a group for every possible thing under the sun, I’d like to bring it back to seascapes only. We want your images to have the sea as the MAIN focus point, if possible, or at least taking up half or more of the image. It’s all about the ocean or sea. Not kids, not seagulls, not marinas. People can feature if they’re showing fabulous reflections in wet sand, objects can feature if they’re a part of the ocean or sea shore….look at the images that are featured to get an idea of what’s expected. Paintings are welcome, poems and stories about the sea are welcome, thank you writing is not welcome. We’ll open the group up to membership again next week, and you can then expect to have your work moderated. Please don’t add too many at once, as there are time constraints on all of us….and if everyone wants their work back quickly then that’ll just slow down the approval system. My co-hosts and I will begin deleting work on Sunday 10th May, at around 10am Eastern Standard Time AU. That’s +10 UTC Have a great weekend, and look forward to a leaner, meaner seascapes group! Cheers |
